How much do you care about these continuities?

Over the last 25 years the Transformers have appeared in media from the exquisite to the scribbled and been licensed to the responsible and the... Pat Lee. Discussion of all the branches of TF media within!

eh?

Do you care more aboput some than others? Or do you see them all as pretty much fluff clinging desperately to G1 and Beasties lovely wooly jumper?

Some of these series had lovely toys - I'm probably thinking more of RID and Galaxy Force here, though both Energon and Armada had some nice pieces on the whole I thought they were blocky and oversized.

The cartoons? Honestly couldn't care one way or the other.

Comics? Well, Armada/Energon was a decent enough run, but the constant introduction of new characters and the fact that it was an oft-delayed monthly title meant that the story developed too slowly for my tastes.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Continuity wise, I care about:

Cybertron - Not at all
Energon - A fair bit
Armada - A fair bit
Universe - A tiny bit
R.I.D - Not at all

One day I promise to get around to watching all the cartoons.

RID - Some nice toys (though many repaints), WORST. TF. STORYLINE. EVER.

Armada - Horrid Poketron cartoon, great comic (at least after Furman took over). Concept of Mini-Cons was a new twist. Toys - not too good. Gets plus points for bringing out the first Unicron toy, though.

Energon - even more horrid cartoon with totally butchered characters. (poor old one eye-from emotionless cold logical guy to raging psycho turncoat buffoon.) Toys are really nice, except wave 1. Comic had a really interesting story. Wonder if we ever see the end of it.

Cybertron - Very nice toys, great looking show (without much 'new' story). Official comic ever coming?

Hoping not to derail the topic, but while we're on the subject of Minicons - if they are here to stay, why nice introduce, I don't know, 20 new moulds? If TFs want to do the whole Pokecatchemall thing then why are there about 15 Minicon moulds that get used over and over for everything? Surely it can't be that taxing?

I always thought the Minicons were a neat idea. Story-wise, they were a cool twist and they were about the only thing that made Armada comics worth reading. They were also a great "hook" for the Armada video game, which was a great, class-A game IMHO.

I wish they still packaged them along with larger Transformers. I really liked that. I'm not so interested in buying them individually.

My two cents' worth:

Armada: love the comic, and I actually enjoy most of the toys, but the cartoon blew goats.

RID: excellent toys, sucky cartoon (although I did enjoy the Prime/Magnus hostility).

Energon: good toys, can't say much about the cartoon as I've only seen the first third.

Cybertron: LOVE the toys (most of mine are Galaxy Force versions), and I enjoy the toon's animation tho the story and dialogue leave something to be desired.

Armada/Energon/Cybertron - had little to no exposure to these lines at all really, i picked up a few of the Armada toys and the comics for a while, saw a few of the cartoon eps, but generally wasn't that enthused about it, Energon and Cybertron is a big fat 'unknown' to me to be honest. Some of the Cybertron toys have caught my eye i have to admit, but in general, it's not really grabbed me.

RID - i actually quite liked this. Sure, it was a stop-gap until Armada came along, but i thought the toys (the new molds, hell even the recolours!) were fantastic and the cartoon, whilst being flimsy plotwise (to say the least) was fun, not deep or involved (which is a shame), but just fun. Would have liked there to have been a comic of RID, i'm sure some good stuff could have been done with it if in the right hands.

As for the minicons, i thought they were a neat idea at first (even if i felt a bit at odds with the origins - especially when you think back to the micromasters in G1, but anyway)

I care little about Armada, I missed most of the comic though. Minicons are great, didn't Hasbro announce at Botcon they were making Beast Minicons? That has potential.

I thought Energon was an ok series (cartoon-wise) but it was very clunky. I did like the g1 influence though.

Cybertron is pretty decent. A mish-mash of Transformer mythos, with a good mix of Bots, Cons, Beasts, Minicons etc. Utterly lacking in original stories though.

Personally, I enjoyed R.I.D. It doesnt take itself seriously. Super Fire Convoy remains one of my all time fave TF toys.

Loved RID as it didn't take itself seriously. Enjoyed the Armada comic when Furman came on board (although sarracini did the best issue ever #2) but the cartoon was appalling. Likewise Energon and Cybertron leave me entirely cold - despite some really nice toy designs and I have zero interest in Universe.

Personally I thought-

Armada: comic Was great, yes we had to mentally block the kids out, but i managed and the Dualor Made up for everything on his own! I actually liked most of the toys, buying them all minus a very Very VERY select few... though looking back, it properly wasn’t worth it.... Tidal wave was cool though. The cartoon can burn in hell... Helllllllll!!

Energon: Nice toys on a whole, Love the comic, in fact I even tried cloning some off spring using comic DNA...it failed but i don't care! Really enjoyed it. Cartoon again can go to hell.

RiD: Good toys even if Most of the toys toys were repaints. And recently I got the first 6 eps or rid, expecting them to be cringe worthy... you know what, I really, truly, 100% Enjoyed them! i mean sure the plot line Stinks of the G1 Cartoon, but i enjoyed the interaction between each character (For once) Plus I’m a sucker for hour long transformation sequences.

On a side note, anyone know where I can get the full season?

Didn’t see enough of Cybertron to judge, but the Soundwave toy rules, even if it did cost me an arm and a leg.

I think Universe could be kick-*** if given a chance. Wish IDW would redo the fan-made series.

Furman would have done some nice things with Energon if it weren't for the strippers and the Porsches.

the fact that most of the toys were repainted beast wars and machine war molds... It's just like the origanal series, trying to sell kids cheep metal and palstic toys. only its worse, the toys are cheeper plastic and no metal. THERE NOT METAL ENOUGH!!!

as for the actual cartoons? DBZ had a better story line lines whatever

I like the new TV shows and the corresponding toys, but there was/is a lot of untapped potential. I got into Transformers during Energon and after reading about Armada mid-series I really wanted Starscream to get his memory back. It would've made for a good conflict.
