I don't recall silverstreak coming up with an anti-comic post that was as well thought through as that one. What happened to him anyway?KingMob wrote:Ah, this is all reminding me of silverstreak.

Apart from being banned from another place for trolling and alt-IDing, don't know and don't care.
The memory of how illogical, prejudiced and crap he was did give me a laugh this morning, so I suppose I should be thankful for that.

So, in a Furmanless TF universe, who do we think would have been most likely to take over from Bob with US 55 (Only it wouldn't have been 55 because there wouldn't have been those Man of Iron reprints...)? Were there any desperate "fallen from grace" Marvel staff writters knocking about?

Meh, dunno about fallen from grace.
Newbie, or a staffer could fill in. Macchio and Len Kaminski did issues. There were apparently rumours of Peter David creating a script that was never used.
Bill Mantlo wrote ROM, another licenced book for years, and it was ace.
And then there's Larry Hama...
I don't think many of the immediate other options that spring to mind would have been a better one.

If that's your opinion, then that's your opinion, fine.Uberking Robert wrote:In my opinion, the only-and I do mean ONLY-good Transformers thing that ever, ever happened was the American G1 cartoon.
However, to say that the ONLY good thing that "ever, ever" happened was the G1 cartoon is quite beyond my belief. The G1 Cartoon had the same wanky plot each episode. (Megs comes up with a ******* ****** plan and Brawn or Spike or someone crap defeats him by sneezing or flicking the off-switch whilst Prime does some (bad) cowboy grandstanding). There was no depth, there was no development... hell there was no consistancy (save the plot outlined above).

Thinking about this last night a thought occcured to me...
What if the UK comic had been the same up until Man of Iron, but then instead of young Mr. Furman writing the next strip Steve Parkhouse stays on as the fultime UK writter?

Man of Iron has a completly different feel and approach to anything Furman every did. It would have been cool to have stayed with the 'TFs as aliens' vibe for a bit longer. Interesting, that is exactly the vibe that Furman is now trying to instill in the new Infiltration comic.......inflatable dalek wrote:Thinking about this last night a thought occcured to me...

I think it goes without saying that Parkhouse would have been good, but I doubt he would have had any interest in doing it full time. I don't think many 'serious' writers would have.
However, whilst Parkhouse's effort runs rings around Furman's early stories, I think in the long run I'd always have preferred Furman's take on the TFs themselves.

I suspect that Parkhouse would have kept most of the UK stories set in England... Not just for the obvious reason of trying to apeal more to your audience, but because he seemed to enjoy placing strange alien things in small English towns... In fact, the one in MOI might as well be Stockbridge from his Doctor Who issues it's so similar...

Oh, good old times. Except, well, they weren't that old time... and weren't especially good, either.... Well we're better off without him. Though it has been ages since I posted on Seibertron. Maybe he still lurks there?KingMob wrote:Oh, I do. I recall better ones.
