What should Soundwave and cassettes turn into today

Soundwave in the Matrix? Cooool....
Rumble: It's him.
Frenzy: The anomaly.
Soundwave: He is still... only human.
But seriously I was pondering: What if he was an aircraft (as he is in GF) and his minions could be some sort of large cruise missiles. They could drop from his wings and fly towards their target, and then transform and land at the last second.
On the other hand, it's not like they ever had a problem getting close to the Autobots anyway.

Well, it's been done, kind of - just not very well...spiderfrommars wrote:Making CDs transform is kind of impossible though, surely?

There's at least 5 of these things, they turn into different animals. The other ones are a wolf, ape, crab and snake IIRC.
That sounds pretty neat.Autoblokle wrote:But it could have real electronics in it - even just simple texting ability would be cool in a Soundwave toy.

Soundwave: "Don't ask me to do that - since the cartoon, I can't tell which one is Rumble and which is Frenzy."
And that CD robot is cool, Kingmob.

soundwave - hence his name, has to be a comm's device. which is limiting in its self.
also, his 'gimick' is his cassetts. they were cool, but modern media is so small.
The only thing I could possibly think of being similar is a laptop. with media playback. and he could eject smaller robots - they could be component parts. bit naff tho.
Mini-disk player.

Ok then, what about if soundwave were to be a military Comms vehicle? Like a trailer/platform thing, then the radar dish could transform to a smaller robot, as could a transporter could, so it would be like a little car thing at the front, reminiscent of Armada Overload is it? Dunno, can we just not be retro about this and keep him a tape deck, bought by the president in the movie at a charity shop, thus infiltrating the US Army etc..
Hmm, I like your thinking, but will the public?divebomb wrote:Dunno, can we just not be retro about this and keep him a tape deck, bought by the president in the movie at a charity shop, thus infiltrating the US Army etc..
No! What they want is gimmicks, so here's what we'll do.
We'll keep him as a tape deck, but we'll also paint him black and stick 'New' in front of his name. That'll drive the kiddies wild!
Nah, but I'd imagine they have copyrighted New Observation of Humour along with New Hulk, New Nextwave, New Young Avengers, New Spider-Man, New Ghost Rider, New Punisher, New Fantastic Four, New Doom, New Spider-Woman, New Insert Type-A Personality Here, New Cage, New Alias and a host of others, probably including New **** (for the MAX imprint). Repackaging an old product with a shiny exterior and sticking 'New' in front of the name is the new 'Ultimate' over at Marvel, it would seem. Poor the New Scorpion and the New Venom.
If they had got the Transformers, I'd have happily bet cash on it being called New Transformers when it launched.
*slopes off to read New X-Men, New X-Men Academy X, New Avengers, New Thunderbolts, and New Excalibur*

Makes me wish I'd got there first and copyrighted all those names when they started using the 'New' tag, just to annoy Marvel. Like when that bloke got ownership of the name '21st Century Fox' and '20th Century Fox' threw their toys out of the pram and threatened legal action.
Whatever happened with that in the end?
Sorry - off topic - but if anyone has a quick link they can post for that, then we can go back to the 'Wave's 'NEW' look.

I just heard they were releasing Rebelstar: Tactical Command on the DS next month, and was considering buying one for that game alone (much as I got a PS2 for Transformers) but then I saw the online trailer and...adam.creighton wrote:If he was a D.S, he would be sitting round not being used, like my DS, as Nintendo haven't released a decent game wince Wario Ware.

...oh sweet Jesus, is nothing sacred? They seem to have taken the best (and I mean the absolute best ever, no ******* question) computer game ever devised, and spaffed all over it with cutesy super-deformed manga graphics, made it isometric and 3D, and ripped the heart out of it. My hopes were totally shattered when those bloody ballon-animal aliens appeared. Honestly, I was ready to buy the whole system before I saw that trailer. Now I think I'll stick with my Amstrad emulator, thanks. This new version looks gash.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Better yet...Soundwave could be a helicopter in the Movie, but Ravage, Ratbat and the rest could turn into common media items, like CD players, I-Pods, etc.ShadowSonic wrote:Soundwave doesn't mean he has to be a media device. He can be a Communications vehicle and still be "Soundwave" with his comm tech.
The Cassettes can be the satellite equipment on the van.
