New IDW Interview

Post by Shanti418 » Wed Jun 22, 2005 4:10 am

From Dan Taylor of IDW Publishing courtesy of TFW2005. The link can be found here

Not TOO much that's groundbreaking, except that he says out of Scorponok, Dreadwind, Darkwing, Nightbeat, Bludgeon, and Thunderwing, one will appear very early in the series, which is cool.

I can assure you that there will be no zombified Optimus Prime or blood-sucking Megatron.
Damn.

Ha. :D

Ain't it the truth.
Dan Taylor wrote:Repaired and back on the frontlines," has become somewhat of the norm when it comes to any comic book title -- not just those featuring robots. The death of Superman and his eventual resurrection is a perfect example. Nobody really dies in comic books. To kill off characters just for shock value doesn't work as well nowadays. To really pull it off - to get a worthwhile reaction - there has to be a definitive loss.
Well said.

Great link Shanti, thanks for sharing. :) Short interview, but a nice bone tossed our way.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

As always, don't forget to pick up issue #0 of the Transformers due out this October, at a mere $0.99! If you can't afford that, you can't afford the Internet, and therefore can't read this, and we feel sorry for you.
nice touch.

Yay, it looks like we're getting a real comic again.

You'll also notice he said he was happy to be including his favourite Autobot, so obviously it's Nightbeat he's talking about.

No real revelations though.

Although it does raise the question of a Headmaster in the early issues.

As well as Pretenders, which, as you said, makes it a good beat that Nightbeat is who he's talking about. Dreadwind and Darkwing just aren't that cool. And I didn't exactly think their Marvel story arcs were amazing, either.

New Decepticon jet characters would have been a new dynamic though.
