Oh, man! This sounds goood.
Editor in Chief of IDW Publishing Chris Ryall has dropped in at TFW2005 to clarify a few points raised in his recent Interview at TFW2005.
This is what he said:
(In regards to IDW releasing the old Marvel Transformers series with a new twist, possibly re-coloring, so to speak...)
"Nope. You'll see. It's good news. And it would never include redoing Nel Yomtov's work. Nel deserves to have his work seen as it was."
(In regards to the vague "Hmm..." response in the interview regarding Rodimus Prime and Galvatron...)
"As for my vague "hmmm" in response to the Rodimus Prime question... yeah. Hang on. You'll see... eventually."
(And in regards to people wanting to see Beast Wars comics...)
"If it makes you like me even more, I can tell you that some Beast Wars-related comics in '06 are much more than a possibility. In fact, I can assure you you'll see some BW comics next year."
Here's the original thread on TFW2005 http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthrea ... ge=3&pp=15
It's prematurely, but I still wonder whom should be put on art, and if the story will be the same as what Simon had planned originally for DW?

Hmm, I'll just have to wait and see. Since this is the BW/BM forum I'll spare my thoughts on the Rodimus comments. I'm a tad bit scared about their take on Beast Wars though. The Beast Wars are over, to screw with them and the cast we know would be a horrible move. Doing a Dreamwave-style squat & heave on the series honestly. The only way they'd be able to handle it properly is by continuing the inital hints DW was giving that the series would be concerning unknowns in the same time period that carried on after the well-knowns left Past-Earth.
Still though, I'd like to see how their going to handle another Beast War going on in the same area as the original with no one else knowing about it and no one detecting it at any point. I swear I remember hearing "Detecting Predacon/Maximal signal(s)!" a few times so, ?.
Also, wonder how they'll handle the bad guy angle in this, who will the villians be. I can totally see secret Maximals, given a damn fine reason for secrecy, keeping everything on the down-low. Not so much for another group of Predacons.
And as for the posts that showed up after Ryall's in your provided link...

What a tool.Angophile wrote:Thanks for the update, and the one you gave on www.donmurphy.net. Very informative.
Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

There's been a few views here, but not much in the way of reply's. I suppose it's understandable since this is the BW/BM board, and there's ussually not much activity here. But I don't see this on the news, and so far not in G1/G2 or some such, either.
Should I beep one of the mods to make this known as news? Or is it just that no-one really cares about...

No one has an opinion on it, probably.
I mean, all he's said is, "Yes, we're going to do BW in the future". There's nothing to speculate on.

You know, I tell myself that about a lot of things at night. Still doesn't keep me from waking up screaming.Shanti418 wrote:There's nothing to speculate on.

Personally, I agree that the main structure of the BW cartoon shouldn't be monkeyed ( ) with, but I'd be happy for lots of one-off stories that enhance character because some of them didn't get as much airtime as say, Cheetor, Silverbolt, Black Arachnia etc.
Failing that, how about stuff like G1 Time Wars? That slotted in nicely with the US stuff and didn't cause any problems.
Perhaps there were some downed stasis pods that were never found that don't activate until the Maximals and Megs left past Earth. They could have a bit of a rumble.
And what exactly DID Waspinator get up to with a whole planet to play about on? Maybe he fiddles around on the Ark and was the one that awoke the Dinobots so they could battle Shockwave.
Just some possibilites...

But the problem with staggered one shots, while I agree they could enhance the character develop some, is you'd know the outcome of everything regardless. There would be great story, but no suspense since you know how everyone ends up already.
Except the whole erasing a future where Unicron attacks at a later time, Powermaster Optimus Prime is never initiated, Rodimus Prime never arises, and a few noteworthy Decepticons get all Unicronian'd up, right?Autobloke wrote:Failing that, how about stuff like G1 Time Wars? We've been having a few problems posting links in the news database lately. We hope to have it rectified soon.Predabot wrote:But I don't see this on the news, and so far not in G1/G2 or some such, either.

And although I agree that the development of characters that we already know the ultimate fate of is a bit moot (Grimlock 'dying' in DW's WW3), that isn't to say that we can't learn new stuff about them and enjoy it. It's like the 'State games' stuff that gave a whole new slant to certain Tfs (Grimlock, Megs, Starscream etc) - we all know where they ended up in the present day, but knowing these things about their pasts made them a bit more rounded characterwise.
