How so?
And Kung Pow is a farking kickass movie.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

I've always loved Unicron. He blew me away when I was a kid and has stuck in my mind very vividly since. He also has the best lines in the movie.
The problem is that he only has one brief 'conversation' with Megs in the movie, and he never really becomes a character. Even in the comics he is very one dimensional. Maybe that's because, as an evil god, he himself is an absolute but I would prefer to see him become a real character, and have a meaningful discussion with someone.
As is, he is a plot device to add impetus to the main action of the story. When he's not a plot device, he's a setting. The only thing he's not good at is being a character.

(Although the battle against him in G1 has to be my all-time favorite Transformers comic)

another way he could be stopped is if the autobots and decepticons worked together(as revealed in the us comics) also the reason hes weak agaist the matrix(im gonna get arguments about this im sure but ive done my homework about light and darkness so i know what im talking about) is because the matrix is an object of light and goodness(weathers its the essance of primus like in the us comics or the collective wisdom of the autobot leaders like the toon)and as a being of darkness and evil hes naturally weak agaist that type of energy(i use that kind of thing in my l.a.r.p everyday)
a rainbow is more than it seems, its happiness, wonder, excitement and dreams

how come unicron can beat primus on the astral plane, yet in the physical plane Primus has this all killing matrix, why not use it on the astral plane?
Also if Unicron knows about the Matrix, why go near Primus?

Probably doesn't work that way. In the physical plane, the Matrix is a physical manifestation of Primus' energy, concentrated into a small container. In the astral plane, Primus wouldn't exist, if the Matrix was separated from him.
Also if Unicron knows about the Matrix, why go near Primus?
Because he intended the Matrix to be destroyed (or tainted) first. In the holder, it's concentrated stuff. Destroy the holder, and it'd spread out, diluting its effectiveness against him.

but Unicron can pretty much go where he wants and do what he wants. so why risk a confrontation with Primus?

I heard you can destroy Unicron by shooting a couple of torpedoes into a small two meter exhaust pipe at the end of a long canyon, which will lead directly to his power core and blow him up.
That's just what I heard, though.

Cartoon Unicron is a plot device. Comic Unicron might possibly be one as well, I can't remember. I nearly killed an idiot at TFA a few months back because he couldn't get his head round it...
Grand Maximus had more mass, due to the Pretender shell.

Never seen it, but did Grand Maximus wear the Pretender shell over the Head, or was that removed for fitting?
Why don't we ever get anyone of that particular calibre in here?

Because it was inevitable? And he thought if he got it out of the way early, it would make the rest of eternity more pleasureable?

I'd call him a character.
Yes, he appears out of nowhere, but his backstory is revealed and we get to understand his motives and reasoning (hah!): He thought Megatron's plan wasn't hare-brained and continued the experiments.
Compare that to Unicron, who consumes the universe because he's... evil?

Still,I'd rather have Unicron go around eating planets 'cause he's evil then have him as the offspring of the 'One' and Primus's twin brother as Simon stated in the UG...
Still, character or not, Uni has got some very nice dialogue in the comics.
"With Unicron - there are no second chances!"
"I've come to believe you are working for the enemy, Vervain. There is no other explanation... for your idiocy." (General Woundwort)

I would agree that Unicron is less a full-fledged character and more of a 'force of nature', not unlike Marvel's Galactus. Unicron really has no personality . . . unless "totally evil omnipotent badguy" counts! I'm not saying that Unicron is a bad idea, just a bit 2 dimensional.

Any troubles I have with him I attribute to him being from the prior universe and suspend any such problems as such.
It's just easier *plot device* , ahem, exuse me, it's just easier that way.

Unicron, hmm the Grand Poobah, the toughest stain even to paraphrase Wreck-Gar.
Unicron's problem is that he is a plot device who was given way to much air time than was really needed.
He's the chaos bringer, the matrix opened he died...he gets a chance to come back he is finally destroyed end of story...no? you want me oh alright then...
He kinda reminds me of the X-men's Apocalypse in the sense he has minions and that he really just wants to control everything but he is never fully rounded off as a character.
I mean has anyone read the orginal verision of the script, I mean they did'nt even mention Unicron need to collect cute little kittens...

...I'll just post this here.
What are everyone's thoughts on Unicron's status right now? Is he truly dead? Can he be destoyed? Is he still stuck inside that cranium? If his physical form is obliterated, does that mean death for him, or does his essence remain? Thoughts, ideas?

Hmm, which continuity?
Marvel comic: Dead. Hurrah!
Post-movie UK comic: absorbed by the Matrix, ready to return
Post-movie US comic: alive and well, after consuming Cybertron
Armada/Energon: battered but still sentient, with minions doing the legwork
Dreamwave ongoing: alive *yawn*
G1 Cartoon: a head floating in space
Universe: Alive (with big holes in him). Can someone explain why?
And so on.
