Didn't quite think that through to its logical conclusion.
I'd say the stress was getting to me, but what stress?

That was indeed a brave thing, Karl!
It makes me wonder how come there are enough people with enough time to make a 3-page thread out of what you posted... and the brown-nosing that comes after Don's reply was... well, disgusting.
Some people congratulate that fat monkey for saying "I don't have enough violins for ya"? Why?
Truly, humanity is going down the drain. Even Angelophile was an idiot there and I tought from his posts I read so far he was some saner type...

AFAIK they're quite smply all starstruck with Murphy. He's surrounded by a bunch of yes-men, so he can do and say what he likes safe in the knowledge he'll be backed up by 99% of them.
He never considers that maybe being surrounded by such people is not such a good thing, and says something wider about his attitudes and vast insecurities-
i.e. Someone says something which is in any way critical or abrasive and it must immediately be put down as if he were crushing a resurgence of the Nazi party. Despite the fact that is entirely how he communicates, by criticism and abrasive behaviour.
EDIT- the mad thing is that nobody there seems smart enough to realise that they have proven everything I said, which renders their criticisms redundant. They have themselves demonstrated exactly what that entire operation stands for.

Yeah, they apparently think you're Emvee too. Insultive bastages. J/k!!spiderfrommars wrote:I think I annoyed him.

I thought that was the most hilarious part of that topic (aside from the brown-nos....er...facing), the whole Karl is Emvee is Spidey line of thinking. Surely Don's not blind to ******* IP Addresses, right? Probably just used the whole thing to further his image in their ****-covered eyes.
*Sigh* Oh well.
Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Yeah, I hate to get political and everything, but when I read all the brown nosing, and the "tough s***", and the "it's his site, he can do whatever he wants, including being xeno and homo phobic," and the "if you don't like it, leave!" posts, I can't help but think, "These are the people who voted for Bush."

Is it possible to get any more negative than this guy? Did his mother not breast-feed him enough, or what?Don Murphy wrote:Sounds like a mound of turd to mebassbot wrote: New stuff from simon that i got from IDW boards

Simon Furman was kind enough to stop by our 2005 Boards to give some clarification on the info we posted this weekend. Here's what he had to say:
"Hi everyone-- some quick responses and clarifications to the AA-feedback.
1) First of all, when I mentioned 'younger age bracket,' what I meant was we're aiming to appeal to an age group under 30! While we definitely want the long-time fans to read and enjoy the book, we also want to make it accessible and resonant with teenagers too.
2) There'll be a range of ages for the human characters, but the youngest will be maybe fifteen/sixteen. We're not going 'junior' here.
3) Character (alt-mode) updates will be by necessity only. If we can get away with using a 'classic' car in the 2005/2006 setting, we will. I have no burning urge to reinvent the wheel here, I just want to make stuff fresh and believable in a modern setting. These guys want to blend in, so they're hardly going to pick a make of car or whatever from 1984.
4) BUT, and I stress this, we are taking pains to update, not reimagine. All of us (me, EJ, Hasbro, Chris and Dan at IDW) are looking for the most natural fits, those that won't require major tweaks to the robot modes. We want you to look at any given vehicle on a page and know right off it's Wheelie (just kidding!).
5) Megatron. Honestly, I always thought the gun was a bad idea. You've got the most powerful, feared being in the known galaxy and he turns into a handgun (and mostly he needs someone else to hold and point him!). Gimme a break. No, when Megatron transforms, it should be epic, grandiose. Hardened battle veterans should feel their exhaust ports loosen.
6) And finally, trust me that I won't take everything you know and love throw it out the window. I won't. Why? Because I know and love it too. It just don't want to tell exactly the same story. Again.
Cheers-- Simon Furman (honest!)"
Certainly sounds good to me.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Certainly sounds good to me.
And, from at least another post somewhere in all that mess, he claims Simon is great, but attributes the simple fact Simon is writing for IDW means the book will be ****. I'd comment further, but I'm going to allow Murphy his decision. It's only fair seeing as I stand that Transformers are great, but attribute the simple fact he [EDIT](Murphy)[/EDIT] is involved with the upcoming movie means it will be ****. Okay, in fairplay I think there's a variety of things that will contribute to the movie being ****, but Murphy's a big one on the list.
The ******* prick.

I can't really say that SF's statement gives me any sort of "great relieve", but I don't feel like resorting to bad language either.
I'm seeing slightly more positively on the human-thing as times goes on, but I'm still skeptical.
And I'm still cranky about the alt-mode change. Since apparently(?? or have they been active for a looong time and we're just seeing them now, beginning the fight in earnest? I'm still not certain how Furman are thinking about handling this, quite frankly) they'll be awaking in modern times, and it doesn't make that much sence to addopt un-modern alt-modes. Then again, some older models of things is acctually less conspicious at times. I think he also mentioned they'll probably be able to keep a few of em' in their original forms...

What I meant, was that driving around in a brand new flashy car in some parts of the world looks a bit odd. And I'm pretty sure driving around in the more scarcely populated areas of Portland in a form as such would be slightly conspicious.
And for the not last bloody time: am I the only one on this site that's even the slightestly bugged by the new alt-modes??
Speak up!

I agree. While the G1 purist in you might want to go cry in a corner, it makes more sense for the alt modes to be updated, both story wise and from the standpoint of the "relaunching" of a franchise.
If we made it through "Truck not Monkey", we can deal with this.
