I was re-reading my copy of Titan's reprinted "Legacy of Unicron" and I have a question.
There's a scene in the story where Death's Head plugs Shockwave a few times and then reaches into his damaged head and crushes a small chip. I thought this meant he was crushing Shocker's "brain chip" and delivering the coup de grace. However, after Rodimus and Death's Head defeat Unicron, the next story has Galvatron battling the Seacons while Shockwave watches.
I understand that in the Titan reprints I'm only seeing the pertinent feature reprinted, and that there were more stories included in the original comics. Could someone please fill me in on how he was repaired?

Yeah, the two stories are set 20 years apart. Legacy of Unicron in 2008, Enemy Action in 1988. It shows how flexible the future story arcs were for Furman - he could kill off characters without there being implications on the US stories.
After Legacy of Unicron future Shockwave stayed dead. There's no way back after having your brain module crushed.
Not sure if you've read Time Wars yet, if not, then spoilers:
Shockwave's later mental breakdown comes about because he finds out he's destined to die in 20 years time!
