Hey, Seniór :) I see you have updated your sig and your avatar, well done! I believe the thingie with an oriental metal-helmet is from Gundam or some sorts?

On topic: I myself were really excited about the stuff I saw when things started rolling with Dreamwave, altho I became dead-struck when it was said they wouldn't use the old marvel-continuity.

Say, has that Ryall made any more postings on any TF-fan boards?

Yeah, I figured my well-known avatar had a good run so I gave kiddo a break. But the guy in the Sig is one of the main villians from the same game, Xenogears. His name is Grahf, and he just plain rocks.

Here's a couple of pics of the gundam-like mech he uses (in the game called a Gear) named Alpha-Weltall.

[EDIT]

Preliminary b&w and colored sketches for Grahf, before they added the "h". Ha.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Gee. Sorry.

To attempt a return to topic, perhaps the best next step would be to repost Pred's Q?

New Ryall Interview on TFW2005
TFW2005: In an interview at Newsarama, you stated that you do not plan to follow any existing continuities, and go back to the basics of "robots in disguise". Does this mean that the actual plotline is going to be similar to that of people in present day beginning to witness the Transformers appearing on Earth waging war, akin to what Don Murphy has stated the movie is going to be like?

Chris: Did Don Murphy state that between spewing invectives at the people who post there?
Boy, this guy really keeps up with the gossip, eh?

Okay, that's it. Ryall is now added to the "I want to have their baby" list of mine. Awesome, just ******* awesome.

As well I'm soooo glad to hear they want to keep up the "More Than Meets the Eye" books. I love those things.

I hope that "Hmm..." he gave in response to...
Galvatron and Rodimus Prime. These characters are huge in Transformers mythos due to their origins (Galvatron being a reformatted Megatron, Rodimus Prime being the matured version of Hot Rod due to the Matrix). But because of the drastic events and the need to cancel certain popular and iconic characters for them to appear, are we ever going to see them?
...is followed by an unsaid "No". Galvy and Shodimus had their run on both bigscreen and Marvel. Leave it be. Give me something new. There was the movie timeline (that hypothetically ended a few ways, or so my understanding dictates), a ****load of time jumping, alterations made that made the movie timeline never be, then there was the thankfully thwarted Cyclonus & Scourge & who-knows-what-the-[composite word including 'f*ck']-else plans DW had. I believe a good word I once heard was 'poppycock'?
There are plans for more books, and especially mini-series, but that's all I really want to say right now... these minis are something special we've got planned, and as soon as I can say what, exactly, I will.

Oh, and there just might be another monthly G1 book coming in the spring, too. Kind of. Sort of.
I'm intrigued.
Well, we don't have an overabundance of writers slots open-right now, none, actually.
*sniff* Hire me?

On another note, provided Denyer doesn't get onto me for going off-topic again, how were the MTMTE books in the local experts opinions? Were any highly off? I seem to remember at least something about Carnivac I think it was?

[edit] Although, having tread the article fully now...
TFW2005: And finally, any little hint of what the fans can expect to see or not see in the IDW vision of the Transformers story? What can you tell us that hasn't already been said that is going to spark the interest of our readers?

Chris: I'll just say that, in modern times, the idea of giant alien, transforming robots on our planet would no doubt cause a big panic if they were revealed to be real. So it behooves... a group of someones... to keep this from getting out, and treating the conspiracy theorists and their blurry photos of these supposed behemoths as crackpots. But can you really keep something this large a secret forever...? Transformers #0 in October will reveal the first part of this puzzle, but there's much more to come.
A group of someones, eh? Rapture, Dynamo, Thunderpunch and the other one? Dragon's Claws? Jack Bauer and the team from 24 in a special crossover issue? :eyebrow:
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

C'mon, you posted about five screens of massive images that had bugger all to do with even TFs... in fact... *reduces*

MTMTE was probably the most consistent 'original series' DW put out. Not great art in many cases (for some characters the unused art was far better; DW presumably tried to keep to house style overmuch) but I could live with their profiles.

If IDW get the reprint rights, they'd be able to produce a tailored version, with less overspill into the DW continuity (events such as the Big Shutdown, for instance.) Balance things out and take out anything too specific.

Since they're looking at doing their own separate stories and possibly continuing DW ones, they'd be best off keeping things fairly neutral.

That sounds interesting. Maybe it will be like X-books were in 80's, which is something I always wanted to see if it would work for Transformers.

i agree - i think these characters origin are fairly fundamental - if Galvy is not a refomratted Megs then... he ain't Galvy. Similar for Rodimus.

Rodimus doesn't have to be exposed to the matrix in the same sequence of events as the film... it could even simply be a maturation, without the Prime bit.

Galvatron is trickier, but I think could work as a separate character. He already is in Marvel US. Only rather than dragging alt-universes into it, have him show up as warlord of a distant colony, cloned from Megatron's original design specs. Same resemblance and interplay if they ever meet, but without a Movie analogue.

It's workable the way it was put, but I wouldn't want it. At all. And, as much as it can be interesting and I'm guilty of using it in a story idea or two myself, I hope this new Transformers has enough story and adventure not to feel the need to delve into clone stories.

Chris takes his campaign to no-real-man's land by venturing into Don's own board! Ballsy, considering Murphy's brown-nosers are all programmed to hate Ryall and all other IDW associates and associations. Ryall even goes so far as to elbow Don a bit in his post!

LINKAGE!

Don even stickied it. Watch the picking apart begin with ignorance and zest! Aaaaaaaand, go!

Currently I am the new Editor in Chief of IDW, a comic book company whose motto is “All OUR Art Looks the Same” so you don’t have to hurt your eyes by differentiating. We published the talented and double jointed Steve Niles’s derivative horror comics until his wife advised him to form a company with Hollywood megastar Rob Zombie and Thomas Jane, the man with two first names, one of them a girl’s. Steve has left us for greener pastures where he can sell at least 3,000 issues of his recent unreadable comics. We also publish the works of Eric Red, a well known horror screenwriter and a man that actually killed people. How many of you can say that????

But I am here to encourage you to look forward to our new comics. We managed to get the Transformers comics license through hard work and the fact that no one else was interested. We are looking forward to artwork where all the robots look the same and the sky is a bright mauve. We want you to count on the fact that stories that you love will be raped and butchered into incomprehensibility as only IDW can do it. I know that the board manager here, in between abusing you all, has said that he will not cooperate with any comics that we publish…well, Don, do you WANT me to send Eric over to convince you otherwise?

I think you will all REALLY like the titles I am personally supervising, ARCEE RECKONING, about everyone’s favorite Transformer, and HODGEPODGELODGE about a house in the Catskills where EVERY Transformer vacations. You want to see Beast Wars and Micromachines and Armada all in one place? This is the place for you
Damn, and I thought I was sarcastic. This guy is great. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but he almost seems like Best's bizarro twin or something. Although with one notable exception: Best is firmly FOR the board manager abusing us all. :D

Nice heads up, SC.

But it brings up the eternal question: who would you rather see in a fight, Chris "The Phenom" Ryall Vs. Pat "The Golden Boy" Lee or Ryall Vs. Don "The Ass" Murphy?

I don't need to take that on trust here or at TFA. The accounts are registered to mails at an IDW domain, and both pieces of software require confirmation of a registration.

Similarly, there are staff at most boards whose word I'd take, or at least a chain of trust through other people.
