Don Murphy's cartoon contest

Post by BB Shockwave » Tue May 10, 2005 7:07 am

So here's this cartoon fanwank... I mean contest : Do a short video montage of the toon's best moments...

http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=5149

Read the comments, ah all those cartoon lovers who think Dinobots vs. Devastator is what makes TF memorable...

You can see my post there which pretty much sums up my thoughts... I'd definitly do a montage if I weren't moving... Btw, anyone knows a better prog for that then Powerpoint?

I've already seen the horror, I bet that lot's of entries will have:

1. Megatron's masterplan (the episode that insults your intelligence)
2. Heavy Metal War (Gee, why didn't Prime notice that Megatron had all these powers?)
3. Masquerade (Megatron builds a deathray, yay!)
4. The Secret Of Omega Supreme (the robotsmasher looks so cool  )
5. Enter The Nightbird (I really don't know what people like about this episode)
6. Desertion of the Dinobots (Yes, I've really been waiting for lots of retarded action)

Toonies are going to have their own fanwank fest, I think that it would be fair if we got our own contest

Feeding off of fame from the cartoon Schmuck wrote:A Proposal to the Friends of Transformers! Okay, now this is certainly unique in the annals of fandom. I want to have access to a ONE hour reel (maximum). The purpose of the reel is to use a reference for what the fans like best about the property. It’s not that we all don’t know TF- I thought it would be great to actually have a physical reference reel that Bay, the actors, the producers, Spielberg- everybody could play it as a sort of ‘make sure we include as much of this as possible” thing. The winner will get something cool. I promise, once I figure out what it is. Here are the rules for this unofficial competition- 1) Whatever I say goes 2) you have to have access not only to your own cartoon dvds but also a way of editing them together 3) less is more 4) the first FIVE people to email me at Mrdonmurphy@hotmail.com will be allowed to participate and given an address to send them to- the sooner I get them the better. After that, if none are chosen the winner, I’ll open it up to five more. Once more- a dvd/reel that is less than an hour that summarizes everything about the Transformers that the fans love. I don’t think any producer has ever opened this up like this before- let’s see what happens.

Translation wrote:Hey numbnuts, I got an idear! It's great and fantastic just like me and the cartoon you retardedly worship. About the movie, I want YOU to do the work FOR me. The purpose of making an hour long reel of bits and pieces from the kickass cartoon that rocks all is simply because I'm too much of a jackass to try and explain anything to anyone in regards to making this movie. I also have a pizza in the oven. So the easiest thing for me is for you dumbasses that get off on the toonage because you can't, you know read, to send this in so I can give it to them and just say, "Here, make an hour and a half movie based off of this". It’s not that we all don’t know the TF cartoon - I just thought we weren't ruining this enough for the comic lovers and this is the best idea ever to do just that! I'm so much of an ass making money off you dillweeds simply by spouting the tardness that the cartoon is the be all, that I even have the nerve to make how apparently lazy I am clear by using the phrase, ‘make sure we include as much of this as possible”, in this post in regards to what I'll tell these folks once I hand them your movie and get the credit for my great idea. Note the wrongly used punctuation I did with the quote. Did you notice? [composite word including 'f*ck'] no! You people don't read. The weiner will get something cool. I promise. It's my fat middle finger held out to you while I laugh at how easy this **** is, plus a DVD set of the killer cartoon! Here are the rules for this unofficial wankfest - 1) Whatever I say goes because I'm an asshole 2) you gotta think the cartoon rocks and not even have knowledge that there's a comic series 3) you're a whore 4) the first FIVE knitwits to email me at HAHAHAyoumorons@hotmail.com will be ever so graciously permitted to participate and even given my home address so they can drop their crap off and make my life easier, I'll even slap you for being such an idiot and tool - the sooner I get them the better. I've got twinkies to buy after all. After that, if you all actually give me something that won't ruin this movie further than it is, I’ll open it up to five more. Once more- a dvd/reel that is less than an hour that summarizes everything about the Transformers that the cartoon-splooging inepts love. Optimus Prime taking it up the arse from Megatron would be ideal. I don’t think any producer has ever opened this up like this before - aren't I cool, don't you love me even more now? Good, now tongue my scrotum.

BB Shockwave appears to have the only voice of reason over there. :x

There's some conversation about the comic on the later pages.

You know, stuff like showing some frames on the video.

hmmm, I might participate

I think that I can put some good stuff from the mythos:

1. Primus instead of those 5 faced eggs
2. death and actuall war (non-existant in the cartoon)
3. cool characters (also non-existant in the cartoon)

I'll look at stories like:
1. Target 2006
2. Timewars
3. Edge of extinction
4. The smeltingpool
5. New order

we have to do this, people won't take this project serious anymore if they see the cartoon nonsense.

Or do you guys want to end up having to listen to Seaspray and Warpath with their great cartoon voices :eyebrow:

Any ideas?

ugh... but since you put it that way...

although to be perfectly honest, i wouldn't be devestated if we never heard Warpath and Seapray ever again...

Ok, help find the correct images, a few music tracks, and lets get transfans to contribute thier 'comic' version of this to Don.

Ill edit it all into somthing cool.

Im thinking camera panning around the best bits of the comics.

for example,

Galvy stomping roddys headinto the floor, its easy enough to scan that page, and then pan a virtual camera over it from frame to frame, we could even add in the sound effects, and if we were really cool, voices! *looks at Karl...alot*

so lets pick out the best bits and get to it.

Before the cartoon gets too much air time, hopefully Steven Speilberg will see the goodness over Dons dumb ass brain!

I'm downloading Adobe premiere now, I'll be using my 4GB comic collection on my comp to show it :p

Don't worry 'Ill be leaving out DW G1 and Micromasters :D

I've also ripped some music from some games and CD's that will go well with it:

Mechwarrior 2
Mechwarrior 2: Ghost Bear's Legacy
Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries
Total annihilation
Apocalyptica (that's a real band)

Best of luck to the endeavor. It won't work, but there's hope, kind of, I guess.

Note Dippity is taking five, then another five. He'll pick something from the first lot no doubt. Toon-lovers are all over this, and the chances of his ass actually choosing something with comic content is unlikely.

But really, I hope for the best.

For music, I heartily recommend anything off of Ultraviolence's Life of Destructor album, a concept album built around the concept of a giant robot destroying a city.

Hiroshima is particularly good. I can mail you the mp3 if you want, Mark

BRILLIANT!

You sir should try writing parodies... :D

Sadly everything you say is true... and seeing as this is the same man who took the League of E.G. and totally retconned it, and also did what I thought was impossible and made X-Men boring (I nearly fell asleep during the second one - it was like a TV series episode, not a whole movie)...

So I don't have high hopes for this. I still say, hire Ben Yee and Furman as special advisors, give them a whip and make them watch the director's every move...

For Impy: You could show the big Rodimus-Galvatron face-off in "Fire On high" part 2 - Geoff Senior's brilliant art to some Morricone western music?[/quote]

Right, so Nevermore sent Don a (possibly overlong) email rationally explaining that the whole "first five!" thing is a bit daft (due to "who shouts loudest" not necessarily being "who reflects the most views"), and suggesting some people who are well-respected across the whole community.

Right?

Murphy's reply?

Pretty much "Thank you for your email. I hope the medication helps."

Fills you with confidence, doesn't it? I guess if you're not an ass-kissing yes-man, your opinion doesn't cut it.
Grrr. Argh.

I've already switched to Windows Movie Maker, I've already created 2 minutes of movie last night as a test.

I hope that I'll have everything ready by friday or saturday.

Here's a personal request, I'll be showing comicbook covers during the opening sequense. Any ideas which ones I should show (note that I've already picked the "are all dead" cover).

Thanks! Tho I won't get to see it till the weekend :( (this computer I'm using is a bit shat)

As for other suggestions, anything that looks a bit grown up and grisly. Say Impactor and Springer (UK 167), Megatron and Fort Max (G2 2), Megs and Bludgeon (G2 5), Dead Scorpy (UK 321), Megs and Galvy vs Shockwave (UK 328) etc.

Several DW covers by Figueroa and Raiz will probably also fall into this category.
