How does PMOP revert back to normal Oppy in G2?
Moderators:Best First, spiderfrommars, IronHide
I was looking at the cover of an old Marvel comic with PMOP on the front (and being the TF dumby that I am), I wondered how Prime well first off became PMOP and then afterwards reverted back to PMOP.
Also the same with Megs, Megs to Galvy, Galvy to Megs??? But how and why?

Short version?
- Prime died
- He got rebuilt as a Powermaster
- He died again
- He got rebuilt (as an Actionmaster, though there's not enough evidence to show if he could transform or not)
As far as Megatron and Galvatron go, in the comics they are two seperate beings. Galvatron is still an alternate version of Megatron, just one who has been (1) thrown back in time or (2) plucked from an alternate dimension.

If he did, I hope it was better than Alignment. I know I read about his ideas in an interview or two (one in a recent collector's magazine or something) but non-canon is non-canon.
Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Another Time and Place is an epilogue to original series, not a bridge story between End of the Road and Generation 2. It ends with all Decepticons from Bludgeon team killed or captured, plus Megatron destroyed after the attempt of reviving him.ShadowSonic wrote:I thought Furman wrote a Text story set between G1 and G2 explaining that they either i) found a way to neutralize the Nucleon's effects or ii) it just wore off by itself.

Since it's just a case of retooling (and Prime wasn't an Actionmaster anyway—he was rebuilt by the Last Autobot) it's not such an incredible leap... in fact, in ATAP it was just a case of refueling with a different type of Nucleon.Shanti418 wrote:And G2 basically just ignores the whole "Weren't Grimlock and Optimus Prime Actionmasters?" problem altogether.

Yeah, it was rather a lame cop-out way of getting round the action-master effect.Denyer wrote:Since it's just a case of retooling (and Prime wasn't an Actionmaster anyway—he was rebuilt by the Last Autobot) it's not such an incredible leap... in fact, in ATAP it was just a case of refueling with a different type of Nucleon.Shanti418 wrote:And G2 basically just ignores the whole "Weren't Grimlock and Optimus Prime Actionmasters?" problem altogether.

In plot terms, the idea of action masters wasn't that bad - Transformers losing the thing that makes them Transformers. But as toys, the idea definitely sucked.Señior's Covenant wrote:A lame cop-out of an even lamer idea brought on by cheap toy designs.

Though I must say the accompanying components ('pets', packs, etc) that transformed were neat and an idea that should have been employed a long time prior and forever afterward in my opinion.

Yeah, but not nearly as annoying a concept to me as the 'equipment' for the Actionmasters was still entirely Cybertronian.Bouncelot wrote:A bit like Targetmasters, then?Señior's Covenant wrote:Yup.Bouncelot wrote: OK, as toys that were supposed to be Transformers, the idea definitely sucked.

I guess. I've never managed to get into the newer series of TFs.Autobloke wrote:So, Minicons then?

Well, I guess I get to be the devil's advocate.
When I was a kid I really wasn't that enthusiastic about TFs because they were all pretty much bricks with oddly proportioned arms and legs. For poseability and playability, Ninja Turtles and GI Joe were much better. I actually liked the Action Masters better than the regular TFs because they were A) cartoon accurate and B) were more articulated.
I still have my Action Master Bumblebee, and the only G1 toy I own is a pretender Bumblebee. I'm a bit baffled as to why anyone buys the reissues, because they're all tiny little bricks with midgety arms and heads.
The G1 reissues are ludicrously overpriced, and that's money that I would much rather spend on Energon, Universe, and GF toys.
And to answer the other question, yes, the Action Master accessories were sorta like Minicons.

I have to chime in and say I agree; I recall that as a kid, once the Action Master toys came out, they were certainly played with a lot more than most of my earlier, 'brick' Transformers. I liked them, and their little companions/equipment quite a lot. I recall pitting them against my GI Joe/Action Force figures quite regularly.
I also recall Action Master Blaster being one of my very favouritist toys because I never had the 'proper' Blaster toy and he was character I really liked.
Sure, I didn't really understand why they made 'transformers that didn't transform' when I was a kid and thought it was a weird idea, but I rated the toys. AMs and Micromasters all the way, baby.

Hey, I LOVED the Action Masters. I still have all of mine (pretty much the whole set - including the hard to find Bombshell). I thought it was great to have TFs that looked like their comic versions. And the individual figures were only £2.99 here. I had just started work and my parents gave me bus and lunch cash until my first wage. I'd go hungry for the day (or take sandwiches) and buy an Action Master every day of the week. The vehicles were a bit pump though, and I didn't like that Megatron and Prime didn't have their iconic weapons. Shockwave and Soundwave were the best. Although Blaster and Bumblebee were very close behind.
Ah, happy days...

Hmm, guess I'm just bitter and good at holding a grudge.
Which is where the grudge came from. I convinced my dear mother to pick up a few on a singular store visit so long ago, was sooooo happy I had new Transformers that looked so much like what they SHOULD in robot mode, then once I opened'em up, starting reading the packaging and looking & toying around with the actual figures I was lost. I knew not of the comic series events leading to the line at the time and as such was stuck with the thought, "Transformers.....that don't.........transform.". I was pissed. Never got over it. Go figure.Autobloke wrote:...I thought it was great to have TFs that looked like their comic versions...
