I think that just means that they're going to be small, cheap, and B&W. Kinda like the pocket TPBs DW had.

But weren't some of the UK short stories in colour? And I don't WANT crappy little booklets. Nice cheap price though I suppose.

Only the colour ones.

The B&W ones were always in B&W.

Except when they were reprinted in the Annual in colour.

Or reprinted in the last couple of UK issues.

And, of course, the first 2 5-parters (Rise and Fall) were originally in colour.

The 'manga-size' only is a little disappointing.
I don't blame them for targeting the bookstore market - and the B+W stories are perfect for it; already in B+W, short and can be strung together into tight arcs, rotating art teams, full of giant robots etc - but it's pretty questionable not to do a full-size GN release, considering the older fan/Direct Sales market, which played a strong role in the previous Titan TPBS being successful, seems to prefer that size over the digest-format.

Still, I'll be getting them anyway and for nice and cheap, so I'm not going to complain. Just a little curious about the format.

When the TPBs with B&W stories were first announced, it was said that some time after "manga" versions, normal-sized coloured collections would be released, too.

Chalk me down as not seeing the point of colouring the stories—maybe that opinion'll change when I see the results, but as long as the format is readable (the only worry with shrunk material) it sounds like a much better way of keeping costs down and attracting interest.

Stinks of picking our pockets twice for the same thing.

Been here for twenty years and I still haven't learnt any better. I don't buy the repaint toys though.

And thanks for the kind welcome. :)

I took it all to mean that the first releases will be in Manga format; digest-sized and B+W.
Some time following this, the collections will then hopefully be released again, in the larger GN format with the material coloured.

I see, I read Ozz's first post wrong. I'm quite up for recoloured versions myself. What I was wondering was if they'd use the original recoloured versions by Euan Peters, but I don't suppose it matters.

Extra bonus materials? Y'see, now I'm gonna have to buy BOTH versions. GRR!

http://www.wildfur.net/news.html#third%20titan

There's been an update on wildfur.net and they detailed stories which will feature in third TPB with b&w stories, Fallen Star: Race with the Devil, Mind Games, Two Megatrons, Fallen Star, Flashback, Secrets Bugged, Internal Affairs, Assassins, External Forces and The Lesser Evil. Random selection ahoy!

Seriously, I can see why they throw these stories together, but still, it would be much better to simply do them in order.

Also, WildFur duo will attend Auto Assembly '05 and Comic Expo '05 in Bristol.

Who is that Johnson guy? It is the one who is called 'Staz' when credited?

Yep Stewart Johnson/Staz. On DC's payroll last I heard.
