Between continunities and even within them.
I'd say Bumblebee. Pretty much exactly the same in comic, cartoon and tech specs.
Though I haven't really thought about it I'd love for you lot to

I agree. Starscream is always the world's biggest blue falcon. He's very consistent that way, and it seems the only time he acts against type is when he gets his wires are crossed.
In addition to Bumblebee and Starscream, I would also say Death's Head. Of course, he has something of an advantage over the others because his appearances are more limited. (No cartoon version)
Megatron comes close, but he too often alternates between being a strategic mastermind and an aggressive bully. Let's just say he's the best of both worlds.

I agree on the Bumblebee suggestion. And Ravage. And most of the G1s in fact. Within a series the characters mainly stay the same course - except in Armada/Energon where they're all over the place - even stalwarts like Prime.
If you mean across the series, then the task gets much harder. I would have agreed with the Starscream thing because he is usually the same back-stabbin' traitor he always is, except that he kissed Megatron/Galvatron's ass all the way through the Energon cartoon.
The problem with this kind of topic is that character names are sometimes just reused on a completely different type of character when a new series of toys comes around and the cartoon/comic versions are utterly changed - like Ironhide: G1 - crusty hardass, Energon - whiney tit. Wasn't there an Ironhide in RID? A cowboy/texan type? (no, not X-Brawn).
Unless the character is expressly tagged as a version of a particular one from the past then we're screwed in consistency.

I wouldn't say ravage. His comic version could talk, think and actually make infulential decisions on events. The cartoon just growled and spyed.
Dispite MV's comically accurate observation, Optimus (bar multiple deaths) had quite different comic and cartoon characterss.
In the cartoon he was eternally Optimistic and determined. From quite early on, in the UK comic especially, he was plagued by doubts about the war and the best course of action.
Starscream was indeed quite consistent as far as G1 goes. Energon though.....

Ah, but he was always a 'good dog' (well, Jaguar).Jetfire wrote:I wouldn't say ravage. His comic version could talk, think and actually make infulential decisions on events. The cartoon just growled and spyed.
Check out Unicron's inconsistencies over the series.

Okay, just kidding.
I think he would probably get the vote for most different.
I'd have to say that either Bumblebee or Starscream would take it. Screamer would narrowly edge out Bumblebee just because he's been the same for 20 years while Bumblebee stopped showing up around 1989.

With all these comments about Bumblebee being the most consistent, I'm not so sure. In Marvel continuity, he developed almost into a leader type, and wasn't afraid to stand up to the likes of Grimlock. Yes, he had occasional lapses into his cartoon personality (Plight of the Bumblebee (PUTTUP)), but he generally rose above it. Therefore it has to be Starscream.Professor Smooth wrote:I'd have to say that either Bumblebee or Starscream would take it. Promisingly i hear that Hasbro have just trademarked the name Bumblebee again. I hope this means a eventual return for my fave minibotProfessor Smooth wrote:or Shockwave.sprunkner wrote:Grimlock.

Why else would they want the name? Except for use in Galaxy Force (well, 'Cybertron') perhaps.Hound wrote:I take every piece of movie news with a pinch of salt.
I think he would be ideal though
They were dumb to let such classic character names 'slip' in the first place - like Shockwave, Hotrod etc. Especially now they have to put the prefix 'Autobot' before most of the names now to use them legally.

Behold - Budiansky's original plot for "AfterDeath"!Karl Lynch wrote:Ironhide: "I cant seem ta get the fridge open and ma beers insaad!"

Anyway, Screamer has basically stayed the same cliche for the past twenty years. Bumblebee also goes down as consistent over the years.
As an aside, am I the only one who thinks that the name troubles Hasbro has in regards to the TFs is a bit rediculous. I mean, are people really going to think that a robot named "Jazz" or "Bluestreak" is trying to cash in on some other property?
