biggest mistake?

Over the last 25 years the Transformers have appeared in media from the exquisite to the scribbled and been licensed to the responsible and the... Pat Lee. Discussion of all the branches of TF media within!

How they'd laugh at him. 'Til he cut their heads off.
The only problem with flagging up TF mistakes is that then we try to rationalise them to preserve the integrity of the stories.
It's like deleted scenes on a DVD sometimes. No bad thing, of course.
I don't see why they wouldn't accept a small, squiffy, smurf-like robot which turns into a matchbox-sized tank as their leader.

or if they do, he could always take over the smurfs...

Your... NOSE!?! What the feck?
Actually, the main reason I hate the finger thing (the 'clicking' I mean) is that I dislocated most of my fingers during a carpet removals accident, and now they click - usually when I type. I'm a write by the way - so that's a lot.

OOPS! What an ironic word to make a mistake on. Yes though, I AM a 'write'. Now if only someone would buy my manuscript. Of course, I keep changing it, so it never seems to get finished. Must find a proper job soon or the money will have run out from the last thing I sold.

The whole "Scorponock and Optimus gave the Cybertronians the Pretender tech" theory is a good one, but I was referring to Longtoth having a Pretender shell FOUR MILLION YEARS AGO. THAT is what doesn't make sense.

Then again, there are also those two stories where Shockwave was able to defeat all the Dinobots by himself, and then Megatron also defeats them all by himself, but later one we see these guys are supposed to be nigh-unbeatable super-soliders...

And Grimlock's capable of taking on either 'con leader all by himself. Characters who started out super-powerful tended to be massively downgraded in subsequent appearances, though. Well, apart from Galvatron.

Fort Max beat him (kind of). And yet he shrugged off all those lasers and missiles in Target: 2006.
Isn't it all supposed to be whether he's 'connected' to the power of Unicron or not though?

The biggest mistakes:

Cartoon: They should have used the comics as a basis (having the US comics as a cartoon wouldn't have been that bad).

Marvel Comics: Forcing Budiansky to write when he wanted to leave the title.

DW G1 Comics: Too cartoony, it was starting to get plain annoying.

War Within: Too much focus on Grimlock.

Age of Wrath killed him off right off the bat.

of course there was his "ghost" that seemed to be attacking Rumble and Frenzy.

Yeah, sure the first 2 or 3 issues of volume 2 weren't that bad, but everything went quickly down the drain after that.

Yes, well, that's artist error... you propably noticed OP is in earth mode in that flashback, too...

Not exactly... Megatron and the Constructicons pretty much wipe the floor with them in Enemy Action, Galvy does the same, but then, he's Galvy... Then Megs deals with Grimlock in Ancient relics too, and Grimmy's defeat in 'Skin deep' is pretty humiliating. And there's Thunderwing who knocks hm out with one punch....

Come to think of it, Grimlock never defeated Megatron, perhaps hurt him a bit. He did threw a sword in Shockwave, though. Ouchie. :o

That's only a mistake if by 'earth mode' you mean Powermaster robot, rather than regular robot. IIRC, he was only in robot mode during that flashback, and Marvel had a habit of not giving them different robot modes when they were purely Cybertronian.

Which is sort of bizzare, since they gave them differant vehicle modes, like the one Prime had in "Fires of Boltax".

Megatron had a differant robot mode in TF#1.

Isn't is strange that when we first see PM Prime in his conbined trailer form he's the size of a gestalt, but later on even in that form he's only the size of Grimlock?

Be a bit annoying if every time there was the slightest change to your alt-mode, your robot mode changed too.

"Who're you?"
"I'm ShadowSonic!"
"Get outta here! ShadowSonic had green hands!"
"Yeah, that was when I was a bread bin.I turn into a fridge-freezer now!"
"Oh, ok."
Etc.

Only one I can think of who had a robot mode change was Bumblebee/Goldbug, and that was only due to him being completey rebuilt.

Galvatron, Cyclonus & Scourge don't count, as they were purposely rebuilt to be different.
Megatron had a differant robot mode in TF#1.
Only because they drew him based on his toy, initially.

Same deal with Omega Supreme, Fortress Maximus, Scorponok, etc.

Didn't they show Prime's Cybertron alt mode in the first issue of the Marvel comic when they mentioned Prime inspiring the Autobots to fight back? Some kind of brick-type truck with a cannon that was his rifle.
I could be totally wrong, as it's been a while since I read the issue, but I'm fairly sure it was Prime that time and not Megatron or someone else.
Someone check for me 'cos I'm too lasy to confirm it myself.

Yes. Not sure how mobile it was though.

Taking into account the truck seen in Flames of Boltax, he could have either been a triple changer, or modified his alt mode at some point down the line.

About as mobile as a brick by the looks of it.

Perhaps they ALL changes alt mode depending on the required mission - a bit like when Joe 90 changes his brain (or whatever it is he does). That said, a civil war and its fuel/materials rationing may not allow such an idea.
Unfortunately, it's really just 'cos no-one ever bothered to check what other alt modes had been designed by previous artists. You'd have thought that there'd have been a 'bible' of such important continuity.

Also, I found it a little wierd that in the Headmasters series Fort Max turned into some kind of assault vehicle when his name suggests he was alwasy a Fort...

Also, they kept changing his head, sometimes it was Cerebros, others it was his real head.

I'm left wondering how Bludgeon could call himself "Master of Metallikato" and stuff when we saw that his real robot mode really didn't look like it could cleave dudes like his shell could, and he only got his shell about a year ago by that point in the comic.

And I think it was specifically stated that Fort Max was three times the size of regular TFs, yet after his first "Super mode" appearance where he beat ALL the con HEadmasters (US #37) he shrunk and was able to be beaten by...Buzzsaw and Ratbat?!

Strange too that Blaster seemed to have lost his personality and coolness after Underbase, maybe Grimlock felt threatened and removed parts of his brain module?

Actually, his name was a typo. It should have been FARTress Maximus. Although we never found out why..
In seriousness, did he EVER use his city mode in the comic? That'd be one hell of a small city.

Prime used to host tea parties in there with his dolls.
