Thought I'd start an all purpose topic for anyone who has a good Transformers find - be it toys, books, other rabid fans or something... else. It just saves starting a new topic each time someone discovers a gem.
Here's mine for today:
Transformers colouring books in WHSmiths in Norwich. Half-price to £1.99, but actually only 50p each when scanned at till. Hurrah! I bought two.
Energon combiner leaders in Toymaster in Lowestoft - Storm Jet (I think that's his name) and Steamhammer, both for £9.99
Eighty-one year old TF fan on the bus who knew as much as any Transfan.
Transformers the Movie CD soundtrack in a secondhand shop for 99p. Still in the plastic wrapper, so I got it as a spare.
Just heard my GF Starscream is ready to collect from the import shop. Yay!
Gone are the days when Transformers events were only a once a month occurance.

Nice one. I still haven't got it as I don't want to pay full price for the thing...Autobloke wrote: Transformers the Movie CD soundtrack in a secondhand shop for 99p.

The eighty year old accosted me as I took the park-and-ride bus back from Norwich. I was reading the latest Titan TF reprint (Last Stand - my collection is now complete. Although I checked and the reprints don't cover US issues 33 and 34, weren't they 'Man of Iron' - a reprint of the early UK story?) - a book which I forgot to add to my above list. Suddenly this old bloke leant over my shoulder and asked if the book was G1 or not. After I recovered from the surprise, he said that he much preferred the early stuff from 1984, but still collected the newer stuff right up to Energon out of habit. Apparently his grandson had been a big fan and spent most weekends around his house telling him about the big robots. His grandson had since grown up, but when he said he was going to get rid of his TF stuff, the old man had said that he'd like it.
He continued the collection whenever he can afford something, and 'cos he's got the internet he can keep up with current TF events. He's extremly excited about the new movie and hopes he doesn't die before it comes out. He also can't wait to get his hands on GF (Galaxy Force, NOT a 'girlfriend'), but couldn't decide what figure was his favourite.
I was slightly creeped out by the guy (come home and see my Transformers, little boy - shudder), and so didn't give him my email address. I kinda hope he doesn't post here. but if he does: Hello Gary!
It just goes to show: Old TF fans don't die... well, actually, I suppose they DO in the end.
And he didn't mention Impactor, but I bet he knew who he was.
Also missed from my earlier list for today ('cos I forgot, okay? - some old guy was bugging me on the bus): Some laminated TF posters from a gift shop in Lowestoft for £1.99 each.

It'll be pretty hard to pick out the old people on this board - its not like a 'things ain't what they used to be' thread would stick out!!spiderfrommars wrote:Yeah, that sounds cool.
I remember a few letters in the UK comic from parents saying how they were enjoying the comics as much as (more than?) the kids. You can believe it - a lot of the themes were quite mature. Them lot will be in their 60s, 70s now no? We must seek out the TransGrans...
Its quite scary to find out that, at 30, I'm acting like an 81 year-old. Anyone for Horlicks?

Not strictly TF, but I just got a mint copy of Death's Head 'Body in Question' from the States off Ebay.......$15 total, including postage - whats that, about 8 quid? And its mint!!!!
Its been the one DH thing thats eluded me and now its mine!!!! [laughs hysterically]
Its been years since I've read a comic thats left me feeling this good. I demand Furman be allowed to resurect DH now and that Geoff Senoir be forced to fully paint the artwork forever!!!!
ooooh, I've gone all wobbly...

How cool though an 81 year old tf fan. A little strange I guess. but really no different to the rest of us, just older.
