Sweeeet
Don just seems like the nicest guy ever.
I was also assured everything was cool when I saw Pat in Oklahoma a month prior to the closing. We even talked about really exciting stuff planned for the next year and beyond, I guess this is one of those "too good to be true" moments because less than a month later, poof! everything's gone... and I had to hear the bad news from Espen. Nobody bothered to tell me to stop working, if I had known, I probably wouldn't have sent in the Beast Wars pages, and now some of them are gone, probably looted from the office.

I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Very intriguing, and it looks like most of our ideas about how DW ran were completely accurate.

Great insight brought to light by great and well worded questions.
I wish DDP could hurry up and snatch the franchise and start making comics again already!
A multitude of thanks and gratitude to Prof. Smooth and Best First.
And I thought for sure it was going to be cupcakes.

How was Wildman's art modified "to the point of butchery" in WW2: The Dark Ages? This is news to me, although his art in WW2 didn't look anything like his original style . . . I guess I just thought that maybe he had changed styles, you know?
How was it modified?

Nice interview (good questions).
Don Figueroa wrote:TF wise, I think they did a pretty good job.
I disagree with him here. Dreamwave did a poor job, most glaringly in the flagship Transformers title. The story is key, and they produced poor stories, no matter the quality of the accompanying artwork.

He says Pat Lee is probably the richest person he knows, I find that disturbing as several of employees remain unpaid. What a ****

I always tend to draw my humans in a more western style, so when I did that Armada Free comic book, they told me that my humans needed to be more "anime" so they altered the faces to conform with the house style.
I went back and looked at some of my G1 and Energon comics today. The robot art is mostly good, but most of the human faces stand out as being just glaringly awful.
But if they think snagging a glance from 8-year old Pokemon fans is worth it...

The issue here is that Wildman's art depends heavily on appropraite inking and colouring. Think back to his first issue on the US Marvel TF book and compare it to all the rest of his stuff on the title thereafter. Changing inkers made a huge difference. DW's computer colouring with no inking made Andy's stuff look like ****. Plus (though I'd have to look up the pencils again) it is reasonable to assume the pencils were altered a bit to fit the house style - especially given what Don said in the interview.

I noticed that Andy was actually inked by Rob Armstrong-- who traditionally inked Pat Lee's pencils-- rather than Elaine To, who inked Figueroa's pencils. I think she oculd have done a better job.
Seems good. I like how he says, as many others do, that Simon Furman is such a nice guy. If only there could be a monthly Devil's Due G1 comic written by Furman and drawn by Figueroa.

You noticed how Rob Ruffolo tried to enforce Pat's style on Don? Seems he was Pats right hand man, kinda understanable now how he got the Micro title...

Great guy, let`s hope DDP get the licence, and he can do what he does best: draw kick ass Transformers.
