Original TF Movie redone with CGI.

We know it's a good film, so why not 'remake' it? I'm sure some of you 3D modellers out there have built most of the characters anyway, so why not create some sets and try to animate a short scene to the original dialogue/music tracks?
At least this way we'd know the CGI movie would be half decent, instead of having to rely on sparse info on the new one.

We do? I've never really thought of it as in any way good, just an enjoyable waste of an hour and a half.

Okay, okay. Not 'good', but it IS better than some of the crap doing the rounds. But would it be good in CG? We could even remove all Daniel from it - he never really had an impact on the story anyway.

If we're going to remove Daniel, we might as well fix everything else that's wrong with it. Thus, it would become a completely different film, and therefore much better.

I Like the film, and I wouldnt change that much.

U have to ask, why do it in 3D apart from to aquire some more realism to it?

Yep - a film where Prime doesn't die from a minor cut in his side. If hes gonna die, I want catastrophic destruction in a credible manner. Like....why, when he was laid low, didn't megatron link up with a black hole and eliminate Prime in a cloud of antimatter!!!!!

And if Magnus is gonna get revived, he should be considerable less injured than Prime - LIKE A PERFECTLY REPAIRABLE MINOR CUT IN HIS SIDE!!!!!

Nah, I'd rather see Target 2006 redone in CGI, now that would rule

my god that would rule - problem is, I make CGI shorts, and the amount of work involved in that would be just scary....

about 20 characters minimum... hmm maybe 10 different locations.

hmm.... HUGE render times...

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the movie, and I can certainly think of worse things to do with an afternoon. But (as with the rest of the series), it's problems don't begin and end with the animation.

Obviously the movie wouldn't be remade shot for shot. Perhaps just take the original script (which we ALL know had a few disasters in it) and go from there. Keep the basic story, make the Prime/Megs battle more epic, lose Daniel (and perhaps Spike) and generally improve on regularly mentioned errors - like the lack of Snarl (except for those two brief appearances by mistake) and Swoop's leg in a shot when he hadn't even arrived on Earth yet.
FAns could vote online for certain things to be kept or dropped - a kind of 'Fan Cut' as opposed to a Director's cut.
As for T2006 as a movie: yes YES! Of course. But then you'd have to do Time Wars as well, and then the other notable UK stuff. Not that I'd complain about that.
Maybe there could be a new series that uses the original comics as a basic script. There must be loads of people that missed the earlier stuff in paper form, and it's so hard to get kids to read ANYTHING these days unless it has spikey hair and a pack of monster-style cards. All kids like bright colours and moving pictures - although I think Armada/Energon may have used this thought as their production brief 'cos there certainly ain't much story there.
And just to move sideways a bit on the subject: Who thinks that the production of a new TF cartoon should be handed over to the people who make 'Megas XLR'? Now that's how a giant robot show should be done.

Its a loverly idea - One ive dreamed of.

but I can assure you that Production values of at least £10 million would be required.

If the fanimators (just made that term up) did their shot for free (out of pure love of TF - they must spend hours on personal TF 3D anyway) and all TF fans donated like £1 or something, surely that would make it cost effective. Once we had a product we could hassle Hasbro to stump up some cash and buy it from us.
Anyway, who ever said a fan remake had to be overly professional? I quite like like to see the rougher stuff - I make some CG models, but I have to say that what I see on the 'net by other fans puts all my attempts to utter shame. And my handdrawn stuff too. Makes me feel pretty small, but I can take it as long as it keeps TF alive.
