Strangest and/or Greatest Weapon. Even the Coolest.

Post by Darth Aux » Sat Mar 05, 2005 4:11 am

Who do you think had the greatest weapon?

Obviously the likes of Megatron, Shockwave and Omega Supreme (To name a few), had a tremendous arsenal. But what was your favorite?

I like the idea of Cliffjumpers Glass Gas Gun, Optimus Primes Gun made a fantastic noise, Grimlock had a Sword!!

I tend to post these things every so often, it's been a while and they usually go along th lines of hardest Gesalt or mix and match Gesalt teams, so I thought this would make a fresh change.

Anyway see how it goes ;)

Mensor / Motormasters gun created a cyclone. Always sounded cool when I was a kid, but now I'm not sure it would really have much effect on anything.

good for clearing the leaves off the garden though :) 'Stunticons, the vegetable patch is in trouble, combine to form menesor'

Blaster's Electro-Scrambler. It was obviously a cool gun because he never once shut up about it...
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Seemed to me that nothing packed a punch like Shockwave in gun mode.

Omega Supreme's cannon arm is pretty scary too.

And, of course, Megs fusion cannon, but that goes without saying.

I liked Deaths-Head nasty Lazer-beak felling weapon - that rocket attachment that fragmented into lots of lil spines.

No, no, no - you've all got it wrong. The Matrix, the Matrix (go away Keanu, I'm talking here). Okay, so it isn't exactly a 'weapon', but that little thing totalled Unicron - what else can boast that kind of power? And it cured (read 'destroyed') the hate virus in 'The Return of Optimus Prime', although that probably wasn't as impressive as killing a living planet (yeah, yeah, ALL planets are 'alive').
Am I wrong? Nope!

I think Megatron's arm-cannon was the best. Not just because it was cool, but because that is what gives Megatron his identity. Like Superman's 'S' or Doc Ock's tentacles, the cannon is what made him memorable; Even when he gets Transformed into Galvatron he is still recognizable because of the cannon on his arm. It really is a shame that so many later incarnations had to switch it around on us.

Okay, maybe I AM a bit wrong - it's not the most intimidating widget is it? As a default, I'm going to have to agree with jboyler on the Megatron thing until I can have a bit of a better think about this. Do character powers count? Mindwipe's hypnosis could make ANYONE kill THEMSELVES. Now THAT'S a weapon. If the powers count of course.

The insecticons were always interesting. Shrapnel with his shrapnel-thingy (a bit like DH's weapon) and electrical bolt-throwing, Kickback with his....... kicky-legs ( ok, he was a bit lame), and Bombshell with his mindcontrol shells.

Did Megatron rely on his cannon too much though?

I guess he did in the cartoon, what about the comic?

Megs used his cannon in the comic about as much in the cartoon. Of course, in the show he'd fire a shot and them Prime would punch him and his cannon would fall off so they could have a bit of hand-to-hand. He really needed to glue it on or something. I don't think he ever used his 'black hole' capability, which is a pity. They could have had an episode where he accidentally brought a black hole near to Earth - they certainly had everything else in Earth orbit: the Sun (well, kind of) and Cybertron. Twice.

The Complete Works v1 cover. Probably (as I've never seen it, but have the others) Collected Comics 2 cover too.

But not an annual.

As far as I'm aware...

its a rocket launcher?

is it true that some versions of the toy contained two 'batterys' which were his gun and shoulder launcher?

my first TF, was Soundwave, and I could see an area in his back where these battersy might have gone, but instead there was a belt clip in place...

I remember a friend of mine having the toy and his were 'batteries'.

Maybe the belt clip was removable, but not easy to remove (just like with real walkmans of the time)?

My fave was Cliffjumper's glass gas gun - that scene in Dinobot Hunt part two was so hilarious. But then Dinobot Hunt is my fave TF story.

ive still got my SOundwave here, and this clip wont come off.

U got the gun and shoulder launcher with it either way, just never made sense.

I wonder if mines a limited edtion 'belt clip' version.

I never wore it on my belt because I was 8 and never wore a belt... :(

Still got my soundwave as well - the belt-clip slides off downwards. The space inside is big enough to hold the shoulder cannon and his hand-held one when the rocket is removed and the two half slid together. It didn't tell you about it in the instructions.
