Cartoon Question

Post by Shanti418 » Thu Feb 17, 2005 9:50 pm

Okay, so my local video store has all the old cartoon DVDs for rent. I'd like to watch some of them, but I don't want to watch all of them, given that most of them are crap.

So which seasons/episodes are worth watching?

The one that Furman wrote. No, wait. The one that I wrote. Damn, that's not it. The one that's not a thirty minute commercial. Drat, I can't get this right.

Really though, if you can endure one you can endure them all. I do it just because I really do love nostalgia (in that I like to sometimes watch a cartoon from my childhood. not so much that I want a company currently churning out TF merchandise to rehash it).

I'd recommend The Ultimate Doom (that was a two or three parter I think), The Search for Alpha Trion, Heavy Metal War, The Key to Vector Sigma, and Five Faces of Darkness (multiple episodes).

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Five Faces of Darkness

Arg' god no !!

Worsed.ep.ever. imo

If all the cartoons consist of about 15-20 animation flaws each, each of the Five faces of darkness epersodes must consist of over 70, Galvatrons on Charr before they even go out to look for him, its crazy.

Ehem, anywho good cartoons.. uhum, Fight of Flees not bad for season 3, and thats the only ep. so far that springs to mind.

Oh cosmic rust ain't bad, and Dark Awakening is good if you disclude some bad animation.

There some goodys out there, about 1 in 5-8

I just tossed that one in because it's when I most enjoyed the Quintessons to be honest.

I actually prefer season 1. the animation seems a bit better, alas no special effects (ie, glow) and yes its basicly a toy commercial but I think they are more enjoyable to watch. when they tried to go 'deeper' in season 3 it was just laughable. plus they tried to add back in the hman factor, space stations and stuff, and that just seemed totaly naff. at leats whilst set on earth u could relate to it.

More than Meets the Eye (Parts 1-3), Heavy Metal War, Cosmic Rust, Key to Vector Sigma, War Dawn, Return of Optimus Prime, Dark Awakening, Fire in the Sky, Ghost in the Machine.

I mostly spit on the rest.

Check out our cartoon guide:

Generally the ones we're less sarcastic about are the more bearable ones.

The best option for me would be to get a DVD set with 20 or so favourite episodes, because they are scattered through all the seasons, and I'd have trouble with choosing from the existing sets.

My favourite is Season 3, because it has some of the best, but unfortunately also has some of the definite worst of the bunch. I guess Season 1 would be the best choice, as there are not many stinkers there. I'd steer clear off first part of Season 2 for sure.

Megatron's Master Plan, cause it was actually a good one and you can see Ravage purr. Oh and you can also see Ravage stuck into a revolving door...

Starscream's brigade and Revenge of BRuticus: I think this is what made Transformers different from cartoons like He-man or the Joes, the bad guys were as much important as the good ones, and there were epsiodes that were only about them.

The Ultimate Weapon: Swindle bribes, Roddy whines, Tyrpsy whacks Metroplex... and much of First Aid brooding. Actually good.

the eps i dont like are:
hoist goes hollywood(would be great if it were a mlp ep but it doesnt fit in tf contnutity)
kremzeek(rule #1 dont get them wet #2 dont expose them to bright light especially sunlight cause that will kill them and #3 never never feed them after midnight)
a rainbow is more than it seems, its happiness, wonder, excitement and dreams

I think I hate Kremzeek more than Carnage in C Minor.

:o I love 'Carnage In C-Minor'. It's plot is as bad as that of many other episodes (Decepticons have found super-weapon, blah blah), but its animation errors, especially in first few minutes, are hilarious. And Broadside landing on Devastator: Best. Cartoon. Scene. Ever.
