Carnivac's MTMTE entry...
Post
by BB Shockwave » Sat Feb 12, 2005 5:33 pm
Well, I've written this a year ago (when trying to complete the Marvel TFU entries) and I think it describes him better than the MTMTE version, which kinda ignores all those 10 or more issues of character development he got in the Marvel UK comics.
I wrote the bio using the tech spec's text and incorporating it, so that's why it's sometimes corny...
CARNIVAC
Allegiance: Decepticon
Sub-Group: Pretender Beast
Function: Hunter / Tracker
"A cunning smile is more devastating than the fiercest weapon"
Profile: Most Autobots - and even many Decepticons - see Carnivac only as a growling, howling, mad dog destroyer. True, he is kind of bizarre: he's almost always smiling, showing off his knife-sharp fangs, even in the middle of a battle. He commits abominable acts with unrelenting glee. But he's not smiling because he enjoys his work so much - his smile is merely a tool to terrify enemies and lower their morale. Carnivac has put his theory to test many times, proving that enemies believe the source of his cheerfullness is that he's so sure of his victory.Yet, he's not the monster he looks like. He doesn't consider himself evil, appearences to the contrary. Carnivac is, above all, the pure warrior spirit, and for him to live is to fight. It's hard to earn his trust, because he only aknowledges someone who's at least as tough and clever as he is. But those few who may call him a comerade-in-arms can always except his help when they are in dire need.
Abilites: Carnivac is very tough and is extremly skilled at his function. He has a radio-controlled, wolf-like outer shell. It has built-in hydraulic lifters that enable him to jump over 50 feet in any direction. His fur gives him total immunity to cold. Sharp fangs and claws can slice anyone into metal ribbons. He's also equipped a back-mounted anti-thermal cannon with infrared scope that freezes targets on contact. Out of his shell, in robot mode, he uses the same cannon. In his wolf mode, Carnivac is well suited for tracking and finding his prey, using the many tracking devices built into his snout. He's extremly agile and is unrelenting on the chase. High-intensity laser beams in his eyes incinerate targets in seconds.
Weaknesses: Carnivac isn't very strong or fast in robot mode. He also lacks armor on his outer shell to give him increased speed. Usually his sharp mind compensates for these faults.
"I've come to believe you are working for the enemy, Vervain. There is no other explanation... for your idiocy." (General Woundwort)

The MTMTE version was pretty crap, I was expecting something like your entry. But instead we got Carnivac as a drooling idiot.
I bet that Mad Brick had a hand in that.
I can imagine how it went down:
Patyk: Hey look it's cool looking wolf Decepticon, I take it that he's alot like BW Dinobot.
Mad Brick: What's that? That Decepticon was never in the cartoon. He looks like a dog, hey! Let's make him drool!
Patyk: Let's ask Furman, maybe he wrote about this character?
Mad Brick: WTF? Who's in charge here? Me or Furman? Yeah that's right me! And I want this "Carnivac" as a drooling idiot.
Patyk: OK................I guess................
Mad Brick: Now stop bothering me, I still have to copy and paste these old cartoon scripts into my future comic stories.

Its a nice spin on the standard spec BB.
One thing I thought was ok about the MTMTE profile was that it said he was once a Decepticon of some honour, which I thought was quite interesting. I think a definitive bio for him would mention he's an honourable warrior at heart.

Considering that according to the Dark Ages TPB extra material, Catilla was an Ultracon at the time, I had hopes that Furman would do some smaller 'Carnivac-Catilla defect from the Cons' story one day... Of course Pat 'ego' Lee never had the guts to turn TWW into an ongoing.

The man's really busy with all his important photoshoots, do you actually think that he would have had time for that?
