Spoke to the owner of my local comic shop.
He tells me he received an email that Devil's Due has landed the Transformers license and that the first issue will likely be out closer to summer.
Someones word. Take it for what its worth.

Well, my cousin's second child's best friend's mother's hairdresser says Marvel has it.
Personally, I'll wait for the official press release.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Well, it's not set in stone apparently, nothing truly official yet..but things are looking grim. I was just warming up to Marvel once more, Bay City Rollers-swineage aside, since they've got such rad writers...
Only time will truly tell on this one.
I'm jumpin' happy that the sh*tty company (Voicebox, eh?) that did the Armada/Energon dubb is OFF the Cybertron cartoon. This shows nothing but promise! That Susan Blu & some G1 veterans is involved is truly icing on the cake!
Rumour has it that Frank Wellker will play Scourge/Flame Convoy...
Marv Wolfman will be handling the scripts on the 2006 TF OVA.. OMG! His work on TF such far has been nothing but good! "Forever is a Long Time Coming" was one of the best eps of the G1-toon. I can't wait too see what his take on the Transformers will be.

You like Beast Machines, yes?Predabot wrote:Marv Wolfman will be handling the scripts on the 2006 TF OVA.. OMG! His work on TF such far has been nothing but good! "Forever is a Long Time Coming" was one of the best eps of the G1-toon. I can't wait too see what his take on the Transformers will be.

"24) What does a story editor actually do?
Well, first of all, it involves eating a LOT of breakfast cereals (high on my list: Quisp, Cap'n Crunch, and Count Chocula).
Seriously, Story Editors are the head writers. We determine the direction of the shows, the ways the characters will change throughout the series, and which stories are told. Basically, we're in charge of the stories. And in the case of this series, we are coming up with storylines ourselves and hiring (the best!) writers to give them life. (Normally we'd take pitches from writers to see what kind of stories they'd want to tell. But since we're doing this as a novel for television, we're deciding ourselves out of sheer necessity how each chapter will be shaped.)
The first three years of Beast Wars was a reflection of Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio. The next two years will be a reflection of Marty Isenberg and Bob Skir.
Although Marty and I will be the Story Editors (read: Head Writers) of the new series, MARV WOLFMAN actually developed the storyline that we'll be following. The shape of the world, the conflict between our heroes and the new villains, the very nature of the new villains themselves, were all Marv's invention and contribution; Marty and I are deeply indebted to him."

Wadda ya know. I had no idea. So Marv Wolfman was behind Beast Machines eh? He certainly took a fresh new direction on Transformers.
All the more reason to have him in on this I say. Apparently he also according to the news-article, wrote the first drafts for Transformers the Movie. He's a regular veteran on TransFormers!

Furman actually edited big chunks of Transformers by Marvel UK under a pseudonym. Hasbro and everyone else basically just left him to get on with it... that's how the April fool with the giant nuns and the sheep came about...Optimus Prime Rib wrote:I always liked Marvels approach of 'Story Editors did NOT write for the comic they are editing'
Thats what made G1 (Marvel) better than G1 DW.

Yep. Whether I eventually like it or not, I welcome a possible fresh take on Transformers concept in official material.Predabot wrote:Wadda ya know. I had no idea. So Marv Wolfman was behind Beast Machines eh? He certainly took a fresh new direction on Transformers.

Though assuming it'll actually happen, what could that OVA be? Alternators story?

If it's a good story, would there really be something wrong with that?Osku wrote:what could that OVA be? Alternators story?
I'm hoping it's Energon-finale tho. One of the script-writers would of course be Simon Furman.
Or {gasp} Transformers Universe??! That would be awesome, especially since it was rumored a few months ago that a direct-to-video CGI-Universe short-movie was to be made!

Well, it was said that the same company that did the CGI G.I Joe commercial would do it. I guess it would have looked something like Beast Machines, like utter crap with todays super-high standards, but still enjoyable to me.
I'll check for a link to that company and that clip. Let's see what we might be in for.
