The Most Original Idea.

I just recently had asked of me via email, by an old friend from a dead board, "What's the most original idea swirling around in your noggin that you have yet to see in comics or television programs?"

Wondering, what's yours?

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

I don't think enough has been done with fantasy/sci fi anachronism in movies. Sci Fi and Fantasy are not common genres for film, and when they are done they are pigeonholed as "space opera" or "swords and sorcery" etc. etc. I would like to see some more ambiguous blends of genres like the kind you see in King's Dark Tower or something like Shadowrun.

I for one would like to see a really wild story about an orc with a beat-up old Impala and a trunk full of guns. Like a Chow-Yun Fat movie with fantasy beasties instead of triads.

I think I'll keep the rest of the details to myself, though.

Agreed. In fact, come to think of it, there isn't enough orc sex on our film screens either...

By the way, anyone seen Bubba Ho-Tep? Now there's a good idea.

I love that movie. I made a sig with a pic of Bruce Campbell as the King on it and everything and Jesus I'm pretty obsessed with making stupid graphics aren't I?
DVD comes out in March.

Thing is, is 'cross-genre-fusion-smushing' actually original? Not saying it can't/doesn't make for great products, but that kind of wilfull mish-mash seems kinda forced; a complaint I've read of Bubba Ho-Tep for example.

No, it isn't original but it is something that hasn't been fully tapped yet, especially where film and TV are concerned.

And as for it being forced, that's a valid criticism. Sometimes I read the Dark Tower books and just shake my head at the sheer weirdness of it all. But at the same time as long as it is executed well and used for a unique atmosphere instead of novelty, it can work very well.

Here's another original idea for Hollywood: It has been proven that a good film with believable characters can make a successful story no matter what the genre or gimmick. (Memorize this, Don Murphy!)

Do you think, were the people ready and willing in all neccassary aspects, that TransFans could produce it's own webcomic regarding Transformers?

...or would it be just an ongoing argument?

OL10 is coming. I'm almost finished writing the novel. It's got giant robots. It's got aliens and spaceships. It's got sexy women and ugly men. It's got the most inappropriate humour. It details how the 'Knicker Radar' works in a man. And a van has a heart attack. Think Transformers+Red Dwarf (but waaay ruder)+Star Trek+a whole heap of other weird stuff. Now if only I can find a suitable publisher - any ideas? I suppose I could just start my own website and publish a chapter a month - I've got some cool artwork for it too.
Hmm... this isn't really answering the original question, is it?
Why not just cross Transformers with Star Trek or Thunderbirds? Transformers: Interstellar Rescue. I'd like to see the toys for those.

I'd rather read a TF/G.I.Joe crossover.

Yep. And human-based stories - especially non-superpowered ones are a bit dull to me. TFs don't need no steenkin' humes.

Not to mention the entire Ark crew (except Ratchet), circa US #5.

Jesus was a donkey, and so it turns out that people who run donkey-sanctuaries are in fact the chosen, and on judgement day will accent to Donkey heaven.

A lone donkey-angel sent by god walks the earth trying to win people over to this idea. It will be a cross between 'The Littlest Hobo' and 'Highway to Heaven'

Each episode will end with a He-man stylee moral.

If its a comic, think Preacher-lite with donkeys and no vampires

Actually, my bank account's fine, I'm well in tune with what's going on, and for the record I HATE TF/GIJoe crossovers. Tell ya something?

Ah, you were being sarcastic the first time - or am I just confused? Don't get me wrong, I love anything TF (otherwise I wouldn't be here), but crossovers suddenly make the characters I love weaker and more dependent on things they normally wouldn't be - such as humans. An look what the annoying fleshy things have done to the cartoon series in recent years (at least the humans aren't ten years old anymore - although Kicker acts like it). Beast Wars kicked read end 'cos of a lack of non-robot characters (except those cave kids - but less said about that the better). And as for humans in the comics? Witwickys, Blackrock, Circuit Breaker, Donny Finkleberg, those Jammer guys, that group of kids and any other number of annoying humans (the Mechanic anyone?) -who really liked them? REALLY?
Apart from Spike, the Headmasters, Targetmasters and Powermasters were all Nebulans. And the Neo Knights? Second rate X-Men - and they had Circuit Breaker with them. Instant no-no. The TFs were created by Primus to fight Unicron, but a group of humans pretty much win the battle? What the hell did I read all those TF comics for?
Okay, humans were useful as things that needed protecting, but we all know the Cybertron-based stories were better because of the lack of them - the storied could be about just TF stuff. Yes, I know T2006 and Time Wars were Earth-based, but there were no humans in those stories. Hurrah!
