sorry about that.
i've read the second generation stuff and i do own the originals plus titan's very nice collections but it was in issue two of gen 2 that i recall spike and fort max sacrificing their lives for the war. very sad stuff but storytelling in the transformers the movie way ie; anything goes. what can i say? i'm a fan of the disaster movie. though, i still miss spike. did i misspell their? it looks weird.

Wasn't the city that Jhiaxus killed also San Francisco?

There's completely different origin of Optimus Prime, for starters.

how did the origins differ?
i've read ww 1 but not 2 but i have all the titan collections sans the black and white in hope that colored versions will soon appear.
most stuff, it seems, furman tried to make work with old mythology. i'm just curious. thanks for helping a fanboy out.

In Marvel, Prime wasn't a accountant who got chosen by Matrix and upgraded on spot, but started as a simple soldier and work his way up the ranks.

Welcome to the site matthew.

G2 did indeed rock.

In War Within Optimus Prime was a mere archivist when the Matrix 'chose' him as the new Prime.

In Marvel continuity Optimus rose through the ranks, so War Within blatantly contradicts this.

Two stories that probably won't see the light as day in trades show some of Prime's early background ('State Games' and '...And There Shall Come A Leader') though a third has seen print (Prime as a young officer in 'Flames of Boltax').

Also the Marvel origins of the Constructicons and the Protectobots differ to War Within whilst Springer didn't lead the Wreckers till after Target 2006. There's other small examples.
