Dinobot

Post by Hound » Sun Dec 26, 2004 10:50 am

Ok. In Nemisis Dinobot 2, an enhanced clone of dinobot 1, had flashbacks of Dinobot's sacrifice in call of hero. All which led to another heroic sacrifice.

But why? he was a clone, he wasn't entitled to have these memories as he never experienced them in the first place.

His spark wasn't even anything to do with Dinobot, it was half of Rampage's.

So was this intentional or bad writing on Furman's part?

Lad, (hhihihihi, I've always wanted to say that! :D ) haven't you ever heard of the unproduced episode "Dark Glass"? In it, Rattrap supposedly enlists Dept Charges help with hunting down Dinobot2 in order to upload the memories from Dinobot into him, as most of them was apparently on backup.

Here, read this 3D-comic addaption of it over at Unicron.com: ?? (wait, it appears as if it's been remowed, hmm. Well I'll give you a link to the creators of it instead: Genomestudios) http://www.genomestudios.com/thoughtcri ... _Glass.htm

Not a bad little story. Definately plugs a few holes.

Clones can have memories can't they?

Think Ripley in Alien Ressurection... :)

Thanks very much!

surely that depends on if the clone was made after Dinobot's death? To have memories of Code of Hero, the Dinobot 2 clone would surely have to come from the remains of Dinobot?

The impression I got is that it was one of the Dinobot clones from season one, hence why this clone is not entitled to have such memories

I guess it depends on whether the memories are via scientific or supernatural means. If that makes any sense. I could believe the clone could have an 'affinity' or connection with the original Dinobot for instance.

Yeah possible.

But wasn't Dinobot's spark extinguished at the end of Code of Hero?

I could accept having a supernatural affinity with Dinobot if the spark was still alive, but surely the whole point of dying is that the spark dies also.

But...then at what point does a spark rejoin the matrix :?:

You die, but your spark rejoins the matrix. And even if we dont see it. Or dont see the spark. Theres no reason to think it doesnt do.

What would be the point of having a spark (and all the things associated to the matrix) if you are killed and your spark ceases to exist?

Maybe the spark "changes of state" to get to the place where all are one.

In an episode prior to Dinobot's death, or in fact, possibly in the episode itself, we see Dinobot downloading something into the Maximal computer. These are the memories that Rattrap would have found in Dark Glass and subsequently implanted into the clone, which had no real life of its own, just a portion of Rampage and a few sub-routines to give the illusion of personality.

Nowt supernatural about it, just computers connecting to computers.

Except that what the clone remembers occurs after we see Dinobot uploading the files, and only just before his death.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Perhaps the clone just has a connection with the expired Dinobot spark 'cos it has his DNA - even if said spark has 'become one with the Matrix'. Of course, as the Beast Wars were taking place in the past, perhaps Dinobot was actually around on Cybertron unaware of his future upcoming travels into the past (does that make sense?) and that bizarre link of past Dinobot, expired Dinobot (with memories from 'Code of Hero') and the clone kinda drawing it all together, is what gave it access to the final memories of the Dinobot that died. Hokey - and confusing - I know, but possible.
I think it was more likely just a bit of an oversight in the writing - but then where's the fun in using THAT excuse?

There's another theory that when Depth Charge and Rampage died and went back to the Allspark, the real Dinobot's spark went back to our reality at the same time through the "spark rift" their deaths created, and rejoined with Dinobot II.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Out of interest, where do you get these alternative theories from?
