Whenever I read the Energon series, I can't help but think that the biggest drag on the series is, well, Unicron. Yes, I know he's supposed to be one of the main focal points of the series, but he just isn't doing anything. It's gotten so tedious that Megatron, in my mind, poses a more direct threat than Unicron. I don't know, it just seems like he's baggage, and that the more he's around, the less impact he has.

On the upside, at least Furman isn't labouring under the pretense that Unicron's an actual character in this series. Uni's been boiled down to his basic undeniable role - plot device, nothing more.
Now, if ol' Unicron's still an integral part of the storyline in Cybertron... that's where I'll just get annoyed.

I think Unicron is great. He's one of the parts of the Transformers that stuck in my mind since childhood; I thought he was really scary. That, and he has all the best lines in the TF movie. One of my favorites, really.
The problem is that right now he is more of a setting/plot device than he is an actual character. Hopefully that will change if he wakes up again.

I kinda like the new toy -and the ideas with it. If there ever was a Cybertron comic made... as I wrote many times, my guess is that Avalon and Alpha-Q would have wanted to collapse the multiverse into one world (think Crisis of Infinite Earths), and would have succeeded. In Cybertron , Uni could have become just another TF, losing much of his power... it would have been interesting to see how he copes with it (especially when all the denisens of the worlds he ate come after him... )
"I've come to believe you are working for the enemy, Vervain. There is no other explanation... for your idiocy." (General Woundwort)
I concur. It would be very interesting if a "reduced" Unicron were brought down the level of a normal TF so that he could actually have a face-to-face talk with some of the characters. He has always been so far above the others that it was impossible to communicate with them on any kind of normal level. This would really open up the possibilities for new storylines.

Well in Cybertron he has a deluxe sized toy. And the toy somehow revolves on that aspect.
