That's just it. He didn't. He went to "J'nwan". The place on Cybertron where legends go when they're ready to leave. No dying, no returning to the AllSpark or Primus, just walking into a shimmering plane where everyone lives happily ever after.
Rubbish.
[EDIT]
The story above was namely just a transition piece to help open the door for the botcon story Reaching the Omega Point.

In the "one with the Matrix" sense?Señior's Covenant wrote:That's just it. He didn't. He went to "J'nwan". The place on Cybertron where legends go when they're ready to leave. Sorry, I see "he went to J'nwan" and immediately think he's picking up supplies for an all-night bender at Autobot City...
Grrr. Argh.

Which would be an accurate description merely by the changing of a couple of words. According to the story the above piece was made for, J'nwan is apparently this region of Cybertron that was Cybertron, but not Cybertron. To quote, it's "part of a quasi-reality juncture with the local traumasphere... ...Its very existence was an enigma. Many believed it to be no more than the stuff of legend, an ephemeral fantasy fashioned by poets and dreamers. But radically abstract science underpinned the ornate prose. The 'translucent sun, setting on plains of eternity', was in fact a region of quantum flux, a fissure in subspace that rotated through numerous pocket dimensions."
It's a pretty description, but I don't care for it personally. I only pray it never receives an official stamp of approval.

Hmm, I would have liked if this little story would make it to the end of a (possible) G2 TPB-reprint. Megs and Op finally shaking hands, now that was a chatarsis. No, really!
"I've come to believe you are working for the enemy, Vervain. There is no other explanation... for your idiocy." (General Woundwort)

Prefer the original comic, I think.
Any word on the TMUK books?

Ever read Iain Bank's science-fiction work on sublimed cultures? That's just it. He didn't. He went to "J'nwan". The place on Cybertron where legends go when they're ready to leave. Subliming crops up a fair bit in Excession and Look To Windwards, which also happen to be two of my favourite IB novels—you might want to try something like Against A Dark Background or Use Of Weapons as a taster first, though. Subliming is a civilisation (or part of a civilisation) moving on from the physical material universe... there'sa few decent enough links for this search...

It'd only really be feasible in stable situations such as the Golden Ages which crop up in Cybertron's history—and with Transformers, such stable periods tend not to last.
I appreciate the notion that a race with lifespans measured in millions of years has the capacity to look beyond a fairly simplistic civil war of principles, though.
