well, as implied, they are all a bit rubbish.

Season 1 gets soem respect for being the first i guess. But then nothing really happens does it? The opening eps are quite fun but after that its pretty forulaic.

Season 2 - does anything of actual note happen in Seaon 2? Season 1's formula continues and loads of new toys turn up with, in most cases, no explanation at all. Primes origin i suppose - but thats rubbish so...

Season 3 is mental. And it has Dark Awakening. But it also has The Return oF Optimsu Prime. But it is mental.

Mmm, yeah. Season 3 cos it is barking.

Season 3 is my favourite, because it has Ultra Magnus, Springer (though far to little), an Autobot leader that isn't boring in Rodimus Prime (though it is irritating when after proving that he's capable of leading in one episode, he goes back to whiner persona one week later), some of the best episodes in the cartoon like 'Dark Awakening' and the best unintentional comedy in Transformers' history.

Admittedly, it has also many bad points, like some of the worse episodes in the cartoon ('Surprise Party' and 'Call Of The Primitives' comes to mind), it has Transformers' origin as them being tools for merchandise and Decepticons were a joke for most of it, but the others two aren't better, especially Season 2.

Season 2. It has some of my fav. episodes, like Revenge of Bruticus (where Shocky actually comes clos of being "cool"), or character-building episodes like Seasprays. (forgot the title).

It's mostly awful... I really can't tell them apart :(

Simplistic and repetitive plotlines and animation so bad it would make the creators of Popeye blush...

The Energon cartoon is far from perfect but I'll happily take it over G1 anytime.

Y'see, I think season 3 because they actually thought up some new plotlines instead of the old steal earth's energy routine.

Good characters too, like Galvy, Cyclonus, Magnus, Springer.

And as BF said, its barking.

Rebirth is a fetid pile of stinking **** though.

Trick question, innit?

Season 1 had the least amount of crap episodes. Conversely, it had the least amount of good episodes, too.

Season 2 had a fair amount of eps that I enjoyed, but that's far outweighed by the amount of steaming turd that covered it.

Season 3 is pretty much an entirely different show, and fairly incomparable as far as I'm concerned. 1 and 2 were about Optimus Prime defending Earth from a B-movie villain and his incompetant squad of robo-goons. Season 3 was about Cyclonus trying to stop his psycho leader from killing all the Decepticons as he tried to wrest Cybertron away from the universe's biggest whiner.

It's like saying "which is worse? Eastenders or TV's Greatest Hidden Blunders from Hell 27?" Different things!

Season 4 doesn't count. It's the DW volume 2 of Transformers cartoons - cram in as many characters as possible and worry about the plot in post-production.

Season 3 is a definite no-no, as it declared that the entire premise for the show boils down to Weebles wanting to flog hardware. And that Unicron escaped from a chimp's laboratory. And that's before you get to Nightmare Planet and friends...

Season 2 brought us such tat as Sea Change, City of Steel, Day of the Machines and multiple scenes involving Powerglide.

Season 1 had Dr Archeville, the notion that Shockwave stood still on a platform for 4 million years and Skyfire.

Hrmm. I hate you for this question.

Season 2. Because for many years the only vids I had were Key to Vector Sigma, War Dawn and Megatron's Master Plan. Which I like all of. No matter how naff and illogical they may be, they get the season nostalgia points.

Grrr.
Grrr. Argh.

Season 2 - because nothing really happens, but I like the second-wave Transformers. No other reason.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

I like season three, both because of nostalgic reasons and because it was a bit more ambitious than the first two. That ambition led to some spectacular failures, sure. But it also led to some decent eps, and even a few that were very good.

Throw junk at me, but I liked Rebirth. It gave characteristation to some sadly underused folk like Mindwipe (I loved when he hypnotised Vorath...) or Misfire.

Sure, the main plot was awful. Also the hermaphroditic Headmaster Arcee....

:joy: I put season two as it's the season I remember best. The tape with mostly episodes from season 2 was the only one to survive from when I was a kid to now...

I only watched the entirety of season 1 last Christmas, when I got the DVD, and I don't remember watching much of the third season. I still love eps others consider crap, like "City of Steel", "Atlantis, Arise!", "The Key To Vector Sigma", "War Dawn", "Starscream's Brigade", and "A Prime Problem", though I don't watch them much anymore (though I love City of Steel. I've watched that so many times it's frightening.) I've got fond memories of watching them when I was younger.

I also love to make fun of them too. :p I recognize that some of my faves are complete crap and I'll willingly point it out, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Season 1, Because of MTMTE. Optimus was the leader, Jazz was the second in command (then he forgot?) and all the autobots appear and at least say something cool about them.

Speaking of the rest...

Season 2: I enjoyed a few episodes but to much stupid humans!!!!

Season 3: I liked it because of the Cybertron approach and the notion of a new leader.

Season 4: Everything and nothing happened all in one.

Season 2.

Season 1 had a strong start and end.The middle was fun (for it's target audience) if unspectuclar and formularic.

Season 3 was mostly crap. yes the idea of a '3rd party' being behind everything and taking a fresh perspective on the Tf war was fun but why would I be intrested if the characters I watched and got attached to are wiped any. It might as well be Go-bots for all I care.

Season 4. Sure it was a toy ad but it was a fun toy ad to watch. Basically a series of set peices. As a kid it was clear that Transformers as a cartoon was ending and for a 9 year old it was a nice little sendoff with the 'bots winning but the decepticons getting the last line.....

Season 2 had Traitor, Dinobot Island , Microbots, Auto Beserk, Megatron's Master Plan, Desertion of the Dinobots (a story with the humans are the centre and doen't even make them annoying) and Shockwave had prehaps his only kickass story in the cartoon), The Secret of Omega Supreme, The Golden Lagoon, War Dawn, Starscream's Brigade and The revenge of Bruticus. Either kickass or awesome episodes.

Sure most of the rest were for comedy value or total s### but what do you expect when their suspose to churn out 50 episodes and a movie in one year? The policy of churing out so many episodes that some may actually be good might suck but 20 years on I'm only going to watch what I choose to watch so why worry now. In the Uk we only got a few episodes and those were either awesome or quite good.

Well, I know now in adulthood it's not very good, mostly just cheese. But as a child eating Spagettio's at his own little table & chair setup on the tile floor in front of the tv just for the show everyday before Kindergarten, it was the difinitive cartoon. I have a love/hate relationship with the show, and if I had to choose, I'd vote Season 1.

I enjoyed a majority of season 2, episodes like Traitor and the Autobot run go down as some of my faves.

Season 1 was ok, i really like the MTMTE pilot, but its all a bit skanky after.

Season 3, like Besters said. Bonkers. It has some highlights, Call of the primitives has some beautiful animation, sadly it then goes on to reveal that Unicron was created by some little squirt who looks only slightly less intimidating than my left bum-cheek. As a season though its let down by some really piss poor animation and Carnage in C minor.

I just felt that season one was pretty bland despite some mildly entertaining episodes.

Season two... aaarrrgghhhh!! It had some moments, notably Megatron's Master Plan and Desertion Of The Dinobots but Things like Kremzeek and Child's Play far outweighed the good and really destroyed the season and made it near unwatchable.

Season three brought a new darker tone to the series and while it's certainly no Beast Wars (arguably the best TF series ever made), it's probably the highlight of G1 on TV so far. There were so many twists, Optimus dying more times than Kenny in South Park and not knowing whether Galvatron was going to be helping or fighting the Autobots from one episode to the next... it just refreshed the series completely.

Certainly not a classic by any means, but definitely the best of the bunch.

Out of interest, can I ask everyone why Carnage in C Minor gets singled out so much? Yes the animation is rubbish and the story crap, but I truly believe there's loads of other eps equally as bad.

I feel its the same with Car wash of doom. There's several other comic stories equally as crap, but that one always seems to be the one that gets the biggest slating.

Are we sheep? ;) Discuss.

I think the concept behind carnage in c minor harms it as much as anything else.

Using vocal sounds to create destructive sonics combined with some horrible alien type things. Nasty nasty.

And I personally love Kreemzeek. It made me laugh quite hard.

I'm afraid I'm a "don't watch the cartoon at all" person - although I did watch season 1 and 2 when I was a kid, and I've seen Call of the Primitives from Season 3.
Oh, and I've seen The Rebirth as well.

Didn't particularly care for them. I was hooked on the comics and toys, not the cartoon. I liked some of the accents/voices and jokes from the cartoon. But a lot of it I just thought was pants.
Apart from the Movie and some recent Superlink stuff (which is pretty good IMHO) I've not watched TF cartoons for years and years and years and don't particularly feel like I'm missing out on anything.

TBH I'm finding the Energon cartoon surprisingly entertaining too Kingmob

'Carnage in C Minor' is the absolute pits for me because it seems to represent everything that can be crappy in a cartoon plot, an episode where all/most of the characters have to sing  FFS, we're one level away from the "It's my birthday but nobody remembers... Oh, a surprise party!" storylines with that... there's just something about CiCM that grates on me like nails down a chalkboard.

Everything a cartoon should not under any circumstances be. Many others with worse plots, others with worse animation but never one with a plot so pedestrian, bland and utterly devoid of any charm whatsoever as to bring it home how low TFs had sunk at that point :(

I find first five or so minutes of 'Carnage In C-Minor' the best unintentional comedy in Transformers history. :o

'Carwash Of Doom' I dunno. But it puzzles me how cartoon fans sometimes use that story as one of the arguements that cartoon is superior, and simultaneously forget about 'Auto Bop'.
