Although that said cheasting on your wife, or anyone is a pretty damn low thing to do. Just bacause poeple do something doesn't lend it any positive credence.
if he was such a great talisman we would have actually won something or you could point to more than a handfull of games where he could be rightfully described as putting in an iconic performance or actually helped pick the team up when they weren't good enough. Can you really think of more than a few games where this is the case?
he was a largely tepid captian in a largely tepid era of English football, the resultss and the failure of the team to live up to the potential of its individual parts speaks for itself.
i don't particularly dislike Beckham but in the annals of English football history he will be rememberd more for his celebrity and club career than for what he did or England because, in teh final analysis, he along with teh rest of the squad he 'led' didn't do that much for England.
They had their chance- they blew it. I dearly wish it was otherwise but as i am not prone to swallowing tabloid bullcookies i find it hard to see it any other way.
