Ok, lip-readers on BBC1 say that Mazzi told ZiZi that 'he hopes his mother and his family have an ugly death' - ZiZi turns, Mazi says "go [composite word including 'f*ck'] yourself' - headbutt.
Known to all the players, ZiZi's Mum had gone into Hospital that day very ill and probably going to die....

Then Materrazzi is a son of a ***. I would have done the same, but after the headbutt I would have kicked him in the head.

yeah, i don't really buy that it was 'known to all the players' that his mum was ill - why woul they know that?
plus, if she is likley to die, what's he doing playing footy?
i smell embellishment.

He's pulled **** like that before, some of the greats tend to have this ruthless streak if things aren't going their way. Bergkamp I've seen play some sublime football but also do some of the nastiest off the balls ever.

I think that lip-reading stuff is probably crap... it's all speculation! The only ones who knows what went down there is Zidane and Matterazi... which is a bit of a pain...

It's funny. All the media are suddleny noticing Zidane has 12 (or 14 in some sources) red cards. I think this is his 3rd in a international tournment and he was already suspended this world cup in the group stages.
All those "Zidane isn't like that" statements sound somewhat hollow now. The guy clearly has some kind of attitude problem.

Yeah, but to me, there's an attitude problem, and there's headbutting some guy over some words during the FINAL minutes of OVERTIME in the FINAL of the WORLD CUP in the FINAL game of your career!!!!
I've heard a lot of theories on exactly what was said that day, but now that I think about it, I'd much rather it just go down in lore shrouded in mystery and theory.

He's always been a bit of a thug - ok, he's more known for his mad skillz, but he has properly done other players several times. The ******* stamp springs instantly to mind.
You really dont have to pay much attention to the game to know thta Zidane is a **** sometimes.

I can't find a video of Zidanes madness (he headbutted a German, for example).
A search for Zidane brings up a million videos of the Materazzi-butt.
EDIT:
Here it is. Last edited by

Materazzi is a nutter. He actually locks quite ******* mad, with that passionless stare he's got going on pretty often.
Went bammy when he equalised, nuts!

Since Sunday evening the whole World has been debating what Italian
defender Marco Materazzi said to Zinedine Zidane to make the retiring
Frenchman react in the way he did. The French captain, in his last ever
professional game, thrust his head into Materazzi's chest in Sunday's
World Cup Final resulting in a red card and shame for Zidane. Today,
with the help of Italian lip-reader Arturo Belladini, we can reveal what
drove Zidane to self destruct;
Materazzi was seen to hold Zidane's shirt on the edge of the penalty box
in extra-time at which point Zidane said
"if you want my shirt so bad you can have it"
Materazzi responded
"I dont want your shirt you m***** f*****. you're a f****** old man"
As they jog away Zidane is seen to laugh at this and it is unclear how
he responded due to him having his back to the TV camera
Materazzi then hit a volley of abuse
"you should've quit 2 years ago, you're a f****** has-been"
"m***** f*****! your mum is a f****** muslim terrorist and you are to,
f*** you old man f*** you"
"old man, this arena is not for you anymore m***** f*****"
Zidane carries on jogging away
"you are only good enough for Tottenham now" It's at this very point
Zidane turned and head-butted him.

Zinedine Zidane got fined (and banned...): £3 263.
Materazzi got banned two games and has to pay a fine: £2 175.
These guys can use a £10.000 bill as toilet paper if they want to (and if they existed).
Sure, giving them a fine has a symbolic value... but come on.
Can't believe I'm still here.
