Good to hear. Sorry I didn't know.

Good God! I heard this by one of my co-workers at my internship at noon today. And I started thinking, that sh*t! Half of TransFans is located in London!
I'm glad everyone seems to be ok, (Jetfire is ok, isn't he?)
I know there has been some bad words exchanged between me and some of the uk-transfans, many of whom I think is based in London, but I would never want anyone to get hurt.
Personnally I think it's got something to do with the G8-meeting, but I'm not so sure it has to be with any islamistic-extremist terrorists. I'm figuring, since there was a lot of anti-globalisation protests in the area, because of G8, it might not be completely off the chart to believe that some groups might acctually have been militant, and prepared to do something like this.
It's somewhat odd that even tho I've heard on the Telly that supposedly there's rumors about some reports from mid-eastern security organisations/news-agencys, that some un-named ismalic-extremists have taken responsibility for this, there hasn't acctually yet been any world-wide anouncements from anyone taking responsibility.
So, is anyone thinking about going over to the attacked areas to check out what's happened to your city in a day or two? I wouldn't wanna go now, cause then I'd probably see something wich would give me nightmares for years, maybe life.

MSN has a report that a group of Islamic radicals is currently claiming responsibility. The group also claims ties with al-Qaida. So far claims, which pop up with any explosive situation. Nothing concrete as of yet.Autobloke wrote:So, any concrete facts on what happened? I heard it was terrorists.
Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Can I just ask; Do you honestly believe that if religion were to disappear, mankind wouldn't fight amongst themselves about something?Impactor returns 2.0 wrote: what will end it? - no religon.

Erm guys, the city done got blowed up by them darned terrerists. Can we not do the stupid pointless religion rant just now?
I'm in a bolshy mood. I refuse to be cowed by this, I'm going to work on the bus tomorrow as usual. I'm not letting fear or panic get the better of me so long as I have the capacity for a cup of tea and a nice sit down. They've taken enough lives, I'm going to do my darndest to keep them from taking the spirit from the people in the city.
Edit: ITV has just pissed me off by putting on a "special news programme" called "target london" which I find entirely inappropriate and scaremongery.

Hi guys. i'm genenenly touch by your concern:).
I hadn't expected so much concern and it brought a tear to my eye reading it and hearing the concerns of good people.
Glad I texted at lunch as Anglo who nornally works in central London to see if he's alright. There was no internet acress at my school after the bombs and his safety and he confirmed my saftey (to Brend-Thanks for checking )
Bit of a scary day. I fortuantly head out of London to just inside the M25 and living south of the River I was passing any point which was attacked. Of course I only know that now.
All day, with out internet (Server went down) and access to TV or much radio I had no idea what went on execpt several bomb had gone off in several places in London and that phone liones may be down because of it.
I managed to ring my sister from the office and then texted everybody I knew. I didn't hear from my Dad until I got home just recently.
Working in a school I first heard from pupils about the attacks and then pupils were bursting into tears as a great many parents do communt into London and the jam of networks meant the kids couldn't contact mum and dad and feared the worse. Lots of tears today.
Suddenly I wasn't teaching but conforting young children fearful for any or every relative who had headed into or lived in the centre of london. Tragically we have just sent our year 10's on work experence. Naturally many got ones that headed into London so kids were shocked or hysterical about the whole thing. All I could do was talk sense and explain the unlikely hood of them being at the spot at that time.
A few teachers who had husbands or children working or studying in london were on the verge of breaking down at any point. I frantically texted all my friends who i realised worked or lived in central London.
I'm sure their all OK via return texts or others confirming others as they went along. I only realised how many friends worked in london when I had to text anyone I know who might be affected.
Still I spent the rest of the day entertaining the kiddies and conforting the youngets ones who were dead scared about the whole thing.
All that mught sound melodramitic but until I got alive confirmation off everybody I know who was in london I was worried.
At the end of the day I was fortuant that a someon else was driving to Putney and offered to get me to Clapham. Trains were no go areas.
My Dad, the useless fool, only informed my Sister he was OK so I didn't feel relieved until after I got home and she told me he was fine and I saw on the news the areas in which the blasts actually occured.
What was most scarry my friends Dan and Laura (fortuantly texted me they were safe quickly after I asked) were one stop ahead from one of the blasts (Liverpool Street) and my Dad was one stop before another one. I thanked God that they were not a few minutes later or eariler.
These times are scarey. No less among children who doen't really understand the world yet and that there are bad people around who don't really make sense.
Can I just thank you all for your concern. Comming back after worrying for so many others and finding people who care about your well being is strangely (or naturally) overwelming.

EDIT: Just saw your post, Jets. Glad to hear you're fine, and even more glad to hear you played such an important and supportive part in so many childrens' lives today.
This could either have an effect of steeling resolve against the "terrorists" or, unless the entire operation was completly homegrown by an embedded terror cell in London, it only serves to show that Al Queada and other non state based terror organizations still have no problems moving resources through borders.
Of course, the sad thing is that there isn't much one can do about an attack such as this. That's why they're called "soft" targets.

Indeed. So, I hope that's all TransFans regulars accounted for?Shanti418 wrote:Glad to hear you're fine,...
*Sigh* It's such a shame though. Just trying to mentally put myself in the shoes of some poor soul that has to hear something devastating about this attack... ...*puts hands on head at temples and stares at the screen. Decides to simply type what he's doing since he can't put it into words, it's too ugly.*

Autobloke's girl.
Working in an administrative centre that becomes a regional crisis command centre during major incidents, this really hit home about how real the danger could be, should someone decide to target it.
Security was beefed up, and my duties, in particular, became more vital than usual. All in preparation for actual and perceived fallout from this morning.
All this, and I work on the other side of the country to London.
Glad to hear that everyone's ok.
