Starscream: a cliche, rather than a character.

Really don't understand why he wasn't killed years ago.

Screamer is one of those weird characters. Imo he has his moments, but in between I just seem to wonder why he's there and in the positions he's in. I think he's a good example of one of those ideas which seems good at the start (ooh we'll give the bad guy a traitorous subordinate!) doesn't really work out most of the time but for some reason becomes a 'required' part of the mix so is never got rid of.

Sort of like the Eurovision song contest. Probably looks good on paper, didn't work out but now for some mad reason is part of national TV so hence cannot be exorcised.

Well, we never see it again after he attacks at the airbase. Maybe it was damaged and discarded like Bumblebee's, or maybe he lost his mental link with it after he regained his personality.

Well I was kinda half-joking, but if you want the reasoning it's based upon his belief that he's a handsome devil and the events of Fallen Star. Which takes place after the airbase and when he has his personality back and in which he wears the shell.

I like the framing dialogue, the end version esp.

"My name is Starscream.
The mere mention of my name was enough to terrify the most heroic Autobot, the most evil Decepticon.
It will again.
I'm back!"

But yeah, it could well be those other things if you want. There's not a proper answer anyway AFAIK.
