I agree - he just seemed picked out of the toyline without explanation. Did you ever have the toy of him? The inner robot was like a tiny featureless brick.Metal Vendetta wrote:He does come from nowhere with little or no backstory though. It would have been nice to have a flashback with Scorponok or Shockwave, maybe, to give him a bit more of a place in the grand scheme of things...

thats what I never understand, I mean where the feck did he come from?
We saw the creation I tink of all the other Pretenders, and then here comes Thunderwing? supposedly a badd-ass Pretender, got the tools for the job, a nifty bit of Matrix afinity, hes down with the Con council and next in line to lead the forces of the Con army?
What gives?
Is this just a blatent toy bit of marketing?

A bit like that Walrus (I am the Walrus ) Pretender - can't remember his name - 'Longtooth' or something. He had a Pretender shell on Cybertron centuries before Pretenders had even been created on Earth.Legion wrote:yup, i reckon so... we never saw the creation of any of the second lot of pretenders (or the "junior" headmasters)... they just... appeared... i think that's what turned me off from the characters, no real introduction.
Hmm... wait a minute (nips over to the 'Biggest Mistake' topic).

Aren'tyou all forgetting "The Magnificient Six" Annual Story?
Thunderwing was a liutenant of the mad Con tyrant, Megadeath. Guess he learned from the best...
Btw, we can chalk up Pretenders appearing in shells or bots in earth modes in prehistoric times as art errors. DW seemed tohave this fixed, aswith Bludgeon and Bugly in TWW. Of course, then there was Micromasters...(shudders).
Also, who says Thunderwing died in OTEE? Last we see him, he's thrown away with an arm and leg ripped off... his inner robot is much smaller, fits only in the body. It should be intact, and he's propably drifting in spacenow. Would make and interesting story if he came back, or was his personality even restored? Was he only a vessel for the evil Matrix who revived him? Remember, TWnever talked in OTEE,only the Matrix did...

Yes i know i am!BB Shockwave wrote:Aren'tyou all forgetting "The Magnificient Six" Annual Story?
i can't remember, did any of the art work depict Thunderwing at all? I'm betting he was in his shell if it did...BB Shockwave wrote:Thunderwing was a liutenant of the mad Con tyrant, Megadeath. Guess he learned from the best...
I think that the Matrix was just using TW... there might have been a spark (no pun intended) of TW there, but he was dominated by the Matrix. He was being fuelled directly by Matrix juice, when that was severed by Unicron and TW was blown apart he probably bought a one way ticket to the pit, unless (by some stroke of luck) there was enough vestiages of "good matrix juice" left in him to sustain him (much like Prime)... but that don't last very long... (much like Prime)BB Shockwave wrote:Also, who says Thunderwing died in OTEE? Did you even read my post? I may have referred to it as the Magnificent Seven, but I clearly said, and I quote,BB Shockwave wrote:Aren't you all forgetting "The Magnificient Six" Annual Story?

I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Besides, ... Megadeath... what kind of a name is that?
Makes me wonder why is it that Furman generally sucks at text stories.
