What the H*LL?! Why is Dreamwave's site down?!! >:(

Where famous, and infamous, threads are enshrined for all eternity. (Although really it's just an excuse to laugh at trolls a few months down the road. Ha!)

What the H*LL?! Why is Dreamwave's site down?!! >:(

Post by Predabot » Mon Jan 03, 2005 3:01 pm

I just checked the site, to see if they had some news for 2005 or something, but it's all blank! :x Good ol "page cannot be accessed"..but thanks to Google's mighty cache-function there does appear to be some html-remnances there. :eyebrow:

http://www.google.se/search?q=cache:_C5 ... ions&hl=sv <--Apparently this is what's supposed to be this years content.

http://www.google.se/search?q=cache:GbZ ... ions&hl=sv<--And this is last years stuff, judging by the 2k4.

Now, I know there board was among the thousands of innocent board massacred by the evil php/BB Web-Worm, but why is it that there main page is blasted too?! Am I missing something here?! I better hope this isn't the work of some d*ck-wash misguided TransFan-hacker with too much free time on his hands.

well they might still be reparing the board/updating it, and so took down the entire server, which I assume was also running the message forum as well as the main site.

so perhaps the cache you see was a quick a test and then they took it offline again.

They've sh*tcanned it due to the company's current situation, apparently, and registered a new company/online domain:
Dreamwave managed to do it all over the world, but kept a lid on most of it. In fact, as of this week Dreamwave assets and employees were shifting over to a new company called DreamEngine, started by Roger Lee, Pat's brother.

The dreamengine.ca domain was registered in Roger's name on the 9th of December, to the same address that DreamWave is registered to.

I'm told Pat's promised that everyone owed money will be paid, but to be fair I've heard that before. Principally from the winner of this award.

This is why you don't let one individual hold a company domain name.
Impactor returns 2.0 wrote:I assume was also running the message forum as well as the main site.
Nope. Separate. Board server is still there.

F*ck 'em. On the one hand, a new company could recoup cash to pay off existing debts. On the other, it's likely to involve bamboozling a fresh set of creators to do so.

Maybe it's not such a good idea posting Roger's phone number and home address on the board...Then again it's amazing what you can find out about someone on the internet. I, for example, have spent the evening learning all about veritech :o
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why EmVee never took up his career as a superspy, as every time he got the intel, he'd run from the bad guys' lair screaming "I know their secrets! I know their secrets!"

And then get caught.

It's public information he's chosen to make available to anyone who runs a WHOIS query.

I'll be expecting an almost titilatingly stern and ridiculous email from Candice Chan instructing that it be deleted forthwith, then.

If she hasn't walked over non-payment issues as well, of course.

Wadda ya know. I guess this is legit after all. What I don't understand is why changing the name to DreamEngine is going to help them out financially somehow?

Could be classed as a new company, a new legal entity.

UPDATE: 4th January 2004: I understand that yesterday a number of people received e-mails from Dreamwave clarifying its current status, though in a pleasant, appreciative tone. An official announcement of Dreamwave's status is expected today.

Wow, guess I can tell my comic store guy that he can stop hassling with Diamond distributors to get me the new issues of G1, huh??? This is pretty sad. I actually liked having new TF comics.

Yes, I'm curious of what he has to say.

Btw, why can't he just go to a comic company and sell them the rest of Energon and AoW? Heck, Hasbro would be stupid not to allow it. Marvel, Dc, Titan...

G1 ongoing, well I can live without knowing how Prime and Elita first met...

I assume there'll be an official Wildfur statement pretty soon.

I feel really bad for the DW writers/artists (past and present) who really have been shafted over this.

I can't WAIT to hear Simon dish some dirt.

Although he and Don are great TF guys and are now unemployed, I don't think there's any doubt that a smart company who picks up the TF franchise should pick up the two of them.

Well, I'd prefer if his style was not to 'dish dirt', but to clarify some points for sure. 'Dishing dirt' can come back to haunt people.

Seems to me there's absolutely nothing pointing to this at the moment.

And for how long will it take until someone picks up the license?

Many seem to think Devils Due will jump at it, personally I would rather prefer someone else, but I must admit that they are the most likely contestant at the moment. :eyebrow: And as such, there is no guarantie that any of the DW-storylines will be resolved. Did Dreamwave use the Marvel continuity/Cartoon? No.

Most likely we'll have yet another continuity... Will Marvel take it, doubt it. They've ditched it before, twice. And if they do, will they really continue their old G1/G2 storyline?

A bit shaky on that one, and the point here was for the Dreamwave storys to be resolved, correct? I think if Marvel published Energon+AOW it would seem rather bisarre wouldn't it? What a mess. I hope it works out, but it seems like were going for another ten years of emptiness.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Blah. :p They used some of the stuff from the comics, and some more from the cartoon. But the Dreamwave continuity are not like the cartoon. Among the many things that a cartoon-fan would point out is that there isn't the same origin for the TF's or for some of the characters, such as Optimus and Megatron.

Well, if I understand correctly, Devil's Due actually has a pretty good track record where continuity is concerned, right? Didn't they pick up the G.I.Joe storyline from the long-cancelled Marvel series?

Of course, Devil's Due pulled a Dreamwave with their Voltron series and rebooted the entire continuity.

I really don't have a clue what would be the best case scenerio here, you know? Does Marvel even do lisenced properties anymore? That company seems to be pulled in a million different directions anyway . . .
