Ill stick my neck out here and guess theres no z-brush work in there, and that most of the model is all polygon, and texture maps.
Z-brush work tends to be combined with Normal Maps (see: Gears of War) where the high poly mesh from Z-brush is exported back to a 3D app (say 3D max, where it comes in with UVW's all upside down, or at least it did last time i checked...) where its used as a normal map, which is like a bump map but it contains extra data to create the detail.
the result is a lowpolygon model, which looks like the original high poly mesh.
Great work by the way, cant wait to see someone like OP, or galvatron, *ahem* ....
So how do they work in game? just as slick as any other character yes?

Z-Brush? You bet your ass.
I used the Low poly-mesh and edited it in Z-Brush, then exported the normal map back out into photoshop, but I did so in combination with the NVIDIA Normal map tools.... this way you get the best of both worlds.
And yes, Dr. Fujiyama, the famous scientist from Japan, is the creator of the Nightbird. He is wearing this Sagiten (Heron of Heaven) armor that he built for himself in my fan-fic.
