Adi Granovs IRON MAN

Post by Predabot » Thu Sep 21, 2006 3:25 pm

Yeah, wee bit of a fan of Iron Man actually. Clever lad that Stark guy, so I got ahold of this here cover-image by Adi Granov, and had a shot at colouring it. With his own method none the less. :)

This one's got a few subtle differences.. Not quite sure yet wich one is more viable? Could use some feedback on that, among other things. :)

Can't find any differences at all, sorry.

The second one is darker, in a 'wet canvas' kind of way?

That is correct Rebis. IM's also got a brighter glow in his repulsor, and less feathery glow on his boot, from his jets.

I think the second one is in the right direction, personally. :)

the arnour is really good - it has a burnished look to it, and the highlights are nicely done too.

Background needs some work on it tho mate but I understand if your focusing on Iron Man.

Well, he IS supposed to be in focus. :)

But you may be right about the background, I've gotten the tips that the clouds and smoke in it are too lose, on another board.

Maybe you've got some tips there? Yesterday I adjusted the Brightness/contrast on the colours on top of it, as well as the grey water-colours beneath it, and that maybe made it a bit better.

But maybe I should rework it completely?

I thik they need completely re-working and tightning up - id colour inside the black outlines, the create a smaller layer within, and with a different shade.

off the top of my head - look at these red clouds in the background, obviously u dont want red clouds but the colour style is good.

Also - and this is just my preference - I fiddled with the contrast to your image, a slight brightness increas of about +9 and contrast +30ish _ feel it brings out the red in the armour more... but thats just a personal preference.

Thanks for the tip Impy, I'll have a look at that dog-gone background again. :)

The red is kind of good enough for me tho. ^^

OMGXXX!! I multi-posted!

I just made a small update, with a new bg and maybe a small tweak or two. :)

It's more tight now, but... I think it became a bit too dark? I might have to redo that again..
