Ace stuff in the colour-department as ussual Josh. :) At first I wondered why he seemed to be missing parts, but then it dawned on me: he's de-cloaking!

I've been meaning to ask you, do you use a special layer for shades, set to multiply like I do? :o Or do you do that thing with dodge and Burn tools, straight on the colour-layer?

Also, what is preferrable, the easier quicker way of paint-blobs, or cut-selection and paint-bucket when doing shades?

well mainly i go about coloring two ways

for the Dreamwave type of stuff [cel shaded] i'll use the couple layers set to multiply for shadows, layer set to overlay for highlights

generally for that style i wont use the polygonal lasso like most people do, but instead i just use a hard round brush and do 'em that way. lasso takes too much time IMO hehe

as for this pic, i flat the colors with the hard round brush then i duplicate the layer[s] and ill use a wet flat tip watercolor brush. i'll hand pick out the colors then paint them on

i have a video that shows me color a headshot in that style. ill see about getting it online so you can take a look if you want

Yeah, that'd be super.

Ahaa! So there is still colourists in the "biz" that uses the paint-brush for colour. I'll probably continue to cheat with the brush then. :)
