I think the reason nothing worked after the board was upgraded is because the virtual server was also upgraded.
This php install appears to have global variables switched off, for starters, and I completely forgot about having to go through TFA's legacy code with a fine-tooth comb. Come to think of it, I'm not sure how the TFA chat is even functioning.

Cats? Plugh!
Can't stand cats.
Not since last thursday when I told a cat not to cross the road, but did it heed my advice? Not a chance! It just defiantly strolled across that stretch of highway and collided with a very fast moving vehicle, so it did. Laugh? I nearly puked!
Still, after adopting a strange limbo-like pose and remaining motionless for a few seconds, it did that cartoon headshaking, then bounded off completely oblivious to the fact that it's very probably got less lives left that it had a minute earlier.
