I am actually failry optimistic about chaos but the stuff about the fans slowly "getting it" is rather galling.

Plus their 'change' premise is still one of the most ill thought through things i have encountered in entertainment.

That to me is what TFs should aspire to being, at least art wise.

Schmidt told CBR "it feels great" to reach the culmination of everything that's been happening in the series to date. "One of the really great things has been watching the core fanbase slowly start to 'get it.' With every issue, I see more and more people click the big picture into focus and they see that this book about alien robots is really about us," he said. "It's saying something about who we are and it's not just a villain of the month type of book. It's been great to see that core fandom turn and really enjoy what they're reading on a different level.

'us' being IDW, and not people in general, methinks.

After the conclusion of "Chaos" in December's "Transformers" #31, the final issue of 2011 will be "Transformers" #125 -- the story title and writer and artist names for the issue were marked "encrypted" on the information IDW provided to CBR. "No, it doesn't combine IDW's numbering with Marvel's," Schmidt said, "but that would be pretty fun to do." Rather, "we jump to issue #125 to make a statement about where the franchise has been and where it is headed. The numbering is significant in a couple of different ways -- not all of them are readily apparent, yet."

Not even apparent to IDW either, I suspect.

However, it could be related to a Transformers/GIJoe crossover, seeing as UK #125 was the start of the TF/Action Force crossover.

Good thing we fans are finally "getting it." Must be because of all those times Andy had to go on the IDW board and explain things to us.

I preorder my comics. I'm ordering July comics (I think) next week... and the first issue of James' two issue "placate the fans and the bean counters" run will be up for order. At this point, I don't know that I even want to order it. I mean, I want to support James and show IDW that readers want someone who does "get it" on board... but... IDW has consistantly dropped the ball with this license. I've been burned too many times and don't think they should see another penny of my money for Transformers comics.

I've been voting with my wallet for some time now, and I know that, in this case, I should vote again with my wallet, but in a positive sense. But I feel like the direction and leadership the books are under is/are wrong.

Such angst over a comic. But Transformers means a lot to me.

I tend to take the crappy comics that I am sorry I bought straight to the library's donation pile. I hope that some kid will read them and realize they are crap, too.

I give away duplicates and stuff I don't like, too, to a gal at work who gives 'em to her ten year old son. After a particular egregious pile of junk (including an issue of the ongoing- number 8 to be precise), the feedback I received was:

"My son says thanks for the comics. But he likes the old stuff best."

Me too, I said. Me too.

Damn, I'm old. And cranky.
