New York Comic Con New

prelim stuff from a fan on IDW message board (felix):
* Because of how they're doing it, Infestation can be considered canon or if you hate it it's fine to ignore. But they hope canon or not people just enjoy it. (They also said reading forums Transformer fans seem to be taking it rather coolly, GI Joe fans not so much.)
* Spinning off of Infestation (I'm not sure if they mean continuing a story line from it from it, or just the next comic after it), Galvatron will get a series called Heart of Darkness where he'll return with Cyclonus, Scourge, the Sweeps and an army, they made sure to list the Sweeps and the army separate.
* The Ongoing will be going to space (I know we already know that), the Cons are all pretty depressed with Starscream leading them, so Megatron will return. With a new form! And they're going to hit the Autobots hard, every way they can, physically, emotionally, spiritually and verbally.
The cover was extremely dark and they said after we could come up and see it on the laptop, but they had to end the panel and move out fast. At least it looked very different from Galvatron. (I really don't want to describe him and get anyone's hopes up and end up being totally wrong and disappointing them, because like I said the picture was so dark it was really a silhouette.
But whenever I think of it, I think of Super Megatron from The Battlestars.
* Spotlights are coming back as Tweeted.
* Movie stuff, Sector 7 out now, a comic between movie 2 and 3, and IIRC another comic about Optimus and Megatron's past, sorry about being so short one that.
Huh. No news about continuing the Marvel story. No news about Furman.

I only hope either things change or they handle everything to Pat Lee so he can destroy IDW and the franchise can move on to Marvel or somebody else.

Re: New York Comic Con New
Oh wow. Sounds great - i reckon it should have it's own 12 issue maxi-series. They could call it Here Comes Megatron! or something.Yaya wrote:Megatron will return. With a new form! And they're going to hit the Autobots hard, every way they can, physically, emotionally, spiritually and verbally.
He could totally win the war.
and then... er, everyone kinda forgets about it.
And hangs out on an asteroid and stuff, or in caves. As long as it is rock based and they act like morons is the main thing.
Yeah.

Yeah. I said zombies.
Which will spin off into a Galvatron mini from the Dead Universe.

-Febuary release for the title
-Heart of Darkness: A 4 issue mini penned by the guys doing Infestation & drawn by Ulises Farinas. Releases in March & will focus on Galvatron & his army, which is much more than Cyclonus, Scourge & the sweeps. It spins out of infestation driectly.
-Megatron will be back in Ongoing's ROTD arc and has been redesinged by Don(SURPRISE ).
-Prime Trade will be released in single issues starting January
-John Barber seems to have control over the movievers now, he's penning a second prequel called Rising Storm with Carlos Magno on art; didn't catch when the release is, sorry. Barber will also be on the 4 issue adaptaion of TF3 with Jorge Moreno on art, coming in April.
-Revenge of the Decepticons(ROTD) is a big arc, the cons on the asteriod have not been doing well under Starscream. Now that Megatron is back the cons will attack the autobots in every way possible, physically, mentally, etc. 2011 is the pay off year.
-Ironhide & Sunstreaker will be seen again in 2011.
-The Almanacs will be reprinted, possibly for $300 now that Andy knows we'll pay that much for them
-4 new spotlights coming. Oddly, these were the result of a question & NOT on the slides. When asked if we could have a name(I'm sure we were asking for a TF) Andy replied with "Roberts." After lots of applause, he asked if we wanted another, and he said "Roche." One more time, and he gave us "Mowry."
-No Animated comics in 2011, they want to but it's not in the cards for now.
-There are fluid plans for the Dinobots atm
-Costa really wants to bring in Unicron but Andy says it'll have to be something really good & not derivative for him to give the ok.
-Possible Quintessons coming back in 2011. Question asked about them & someone/thing else I don't recall. Costa said "yes to one, no to the other."
Quintessons seem more likely as I remember them instead of the other thing.

Infestation is a cross-over between, GI:Joe, Transformers, Star Trek, and Ghostbusters. They'll all be fighting zombies. Which, when I first heard about it, made my 6 year old self squee like hell.
But, then it was revealed that none of the properties would be crossing over with one another. It's basically "a lot of IDW's licensed properties will be fighting zombies at the same time." Which, while still kind of cool, isn't Snake-Eyes, Peter Venkman, and Optimus Prime doing some Dead Rising type stuff together.
As to the comment: * Because of how they're doing it, Infestation can be considered canon or if you hate it it's fine to ignore. But they hope canon or not people just enjoy it. (They also said reading forums Transformer fans seem to be taking it rather coolly, GI Joe fans not so much.)
Oh, where to begin? Continuity doesn't work that way. Either the goddamned zombie apocalypse happened or it didn't. It's not a trip to the goddamned mall. That kind of thing MATTERS. Minor trivialities can be ignored. Huge world-altering events without prior precedent in history CAN'T!
Transformer fans seem to be taking it rather coolly? Aside from some of the posters on the IDW forum, Transformers fans don't ANYTHING coolly. Of course, by now, a lot of the comic-buying fans are ignoring great chunks of continuity (Megatron: Origin, absolutely everything from All Hail Megatron onward, etc...) while IDW itself apparently ignores nearly-everything BEFORE AHM.
And they're going to hit the Autobots hard, every way they can, physically, emotionally, spiritually and verbally.
Oh, what the hell does this even mean? "Physically," I understand. You know, with the guns and fists and the giant energy axes and such. "Emotionally?" What? Like, "Hey Bumblebee! I ****ed your mom!" "Spiritually?" That probably has something to do with Megatron still having the Matrix (now FOUR YEARS AFTER HE TOOK THE DAMN THING...or was that supposed to be conveniently ignored for the time being?). "Verbally?" Like, the Decepticons are going to be slinging insults?
I'm just picturing Megatron smacking Optimus Prime upside the head with the Matrix, kicking him in the robo-junk, saying that he ****ed Alpha Trion, then asking "how'd you like that you ****, gonna cry?" There. Physical. Spiritual. Emotional. Verbal.
Way to make me regret dropping all those 3.99 books, IDW.
-Costa really wants to bring in Unicron but Andy says it'll have to be something really good & not derivative for him to give the ok.
Of course Costa wants to bring in Unicron. Because Unicron was a popular big-bad from the movie. It's kind of easy to write an "epic" story when you're writing a character that is GODDAMN PLANET. No. No, it's not "easy," it's ****ing LAZY. And Andy really hasn't given the ok? There are things that he DOESN'T give the "ok" to? Seriously? I've READ (and, sadly, bought) all that crap you've given the ok to. And THIS is where you finally come in and say, "hmmm, no. Not convinced yet." *wharblegarble*
Unicron is, aside from being an epic cliche at this point, is the character you use at the very end. That's how it works. In much the same way you can't just IGNORE a zombie invasion, you can't just go back to "normal" after defeating Unicron. Once your characters have been able to stop a malevolent planet-eating planet, then Sixshot and Overlord don't seem like much of a credible threat. And they should know it.
"Autobots! Cower before the awesome combined might of Trypticon, Predaking, and Sixshot! Bwahahaha!"
"You know, uh, we defeated Unicron. You're about the size of one of his eyes. And those could shoot continent-destroying lasers. Are you sure you wanna do this?"
"Well, uh, thing thing about that is, er... WhatsthatoverthereRUN!"

Think I will just wait for the trade on the zombie stuff.
Not the biggest fan of Abbnett and Lanning. They started off strong with the Annihilation series, introduced a lot of characters with a lot of potential, but then the writing just got more and more stale. The whole Realm of Kings thing was quite the bore, so I stopped reading their stuff halfway through that. When I saw Thanos was back, that pretty much reinforced my decision.
Still, there is Marvel's coolest character, Groot. There is always Groot. If Groot makes a cameo, then I could go for it.
And this whole Revenge of the Decepticons thing...I'll be honest, despite the events of AHM and the ongoing, I still can't keep it straight who 'won' the war they are claiming ended with a headshot to the face of Megatron. I mean, the way the Autobots have been hiding in caves and such, it seems they lost. Then, flash to the Decepticons hiding on an asteroid and getting beat up by humans, and it seems they lost.
Then I realize. We lost.

Oh wait! wrong franchise, yet strangely familiar in how it's nosedived with latter projects...

Im a big warhammer 40K fan, and Dan Abbnett has been writting a truck load of books for 40K, they are considered the better novels comming from the black libary.Yaya wrote:Think I will just wait for the trade on the zombie stuff.

Im surprised Dan has the time to do anything else due to the ammount of work he puts into W40K.
I used to be a 40k buff too - I don't have time or money for it these days, but still like to keep tabs on the company.Impactor returns 2.0 wrote:Im a big warhammer 40K fan, and Dan Abbnett has been writting a truck load of books for 40K, they are considered the better novels comming from the black libary.Yaya wrote:Think I will just wait for the trade on the zombie stuff.

Really feel like I collected it at the wrong time now - these days you can buy battlefields, scenery and all sorts.
I was also more into painting then playing (in fact in hindsight the playing was just not my cup of tea at all) - I was getting onto 'eavy metal standard when I decided to jack it in and focus on my personal paintings instead.
You seen the movie about to be released? it's got John Hurt in it!
