Editor Denton Tipton leaving the TF books

I'm... relieved. Sorry if Denton is reading this. I'm sure he's a lovely fellow in person.

But Denton seemed to crop up in everything that I found repellent about IDW in the last few years. All Hail Megatron, for one. For two, those endless message board wars in which the pro-AHM side flung all sorts of insults and the anti-AHM side got banned or censured for polite but firm arguments.

Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

That was my reaction - mainly based on the handling of AHM criticisms/critics - altho Ryall played a role in that as well.

I've buried the hatchet with Denton, and for what it's worth, I think he's a decent guy who made misjudgements about how best to handle a divided and angry messageboard and what direction to take the property in. I also think he suffers from what many of the editors at IDW seem to stuffer from - having too much to do. We need someone who specialises in tight editorial control and from what I understand, Ryall, Tipton and Schmidt have all have to juggle this with a number of other related jobs. They're driving with one hand on the wheel and one on a Blackberry.

I say pay whoever is writing Transformers to edit it as well.

A writing editor would likely lead to less errors as they will give more of a **** of what goes down.
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Simon? Makes sense. I don't think he ever had a continuity gaff that I can think of.

Correct. He didn't.

When he was writer & editor of the UK comic, all was well with the UK comic.
When he was writer & editor of the US comic, all was well with the US comic.
When he was writer & editor of the US comic, but no longer editor of the UK comic, all became slightly skewed with the UK comic.

Ah, but he wasn't writing and editing, so it's not his fault. ;)

Simon should be the brain stem for IDW writing. What that position is and how it works I don't know, but his input and oversight would probably lend a lot of strength to newer writers' weaknesses and keep continuity in line.

as much as a love Simon i think suggesting he is Mr Continuit is a step to far as the end of G1 clearly shows.

Not to mention the whole 2 Megatrons business.

I think Sprunk should do it, if not for the fact he would be beaten to death if he ever went near IDW offices for breaking that worst of all offences, being a bit mean about something he paid his cold hard cash for.

I nominate myself.

The individual who spent all night last night drawing a venn diagram of various comics publishers' and franchises' multiverses and which universes within those multiverses have overlaps.

Continuity is my specialty!

The precise problem he had was pasting a transfans post into an IDW post and not bothering to think about it.

All message boards are not equal, children.
