It's not exactly as memorable as, say, Derek and the Dominos' Layla, when Clapton re-released it as an acoustic version 20 years on.

The original has dated horribly, and as updates go it's not bad, considering how cheesy it was. The biggest problem is the guy looks like your dad trying to be cool, pot belly and all to boot. Still - can't blame a guy for trying to jump on a bandwagon.

I don't think the original has aged that badly. Granted it's cheesy, but hell it's better than this Linkin Park styled version.
Agree that the video is bad - terrible art direction. Looks like it was made by someone with limited After Effects skills.
I can understand why he's jumped on the bandwagon, but can't see Bay going for it.

Huh. It's okay, but I'm reminded of the Boogie Nights version over the TFTM one. Actually, listening while I type this, I find it's much better if you don't look at it.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Noticed you're from Derbyshire - off topic slightly, but a DCFC fan per chance?

Hmm... Some parts are pretty decent, but the incessant "rapping" destroys it. No siree, this version is not quite as awesome as the original hair metal version.
God... I love that song.

The original is awesome, it's so uplifting, which is why I don't think the lyrics fit this moodier new version.
I always preferred 'Dare' myself. Tune.

Shortpacked put down my thoughts exactly...

Totally with you on that one. It works a lot better for me than The Touch, which has always sounded a little sappy. Dare sounds like a guy should be singing it, whereas the other one would arguably sound more natural with a female vocal...

hahaha... this is ****!
The thing is, enough people are monumental ***** so this could likely be swallowed up by enough [composite word including 'f*ck'] for it to be considered a hit.
I just got a picture of Jack Donaghy giving this the hard sell to some thoughtless CEO schmock.
