reporduced for the lazy (i.e me)
Nick's issue 3:
Robby Musso's issue 4:
EJ's issue 4:
so basically i think the only hope for Ratchet is either a) faking his own death or b) Sixslut becomes aware that he other bots are all up and gunning and prioritises the bigger target realising he has buggered it up.
Think Musso's art suffers a bit by way of comparison above, maybe in part due to the fact its not inked? The other pieces are just brilliant.
Ratchet looks freaking cool in that shot. man i love Ratchet.

Looks like it is inked, he just leaves the light sources and shading with the colourist -- whereas the other two have the experience/confidence to direct by adding large areas of black.Best First wrote:Think Musso's art suffers a bit by way of comparison above, maybe in part due to the fact its not inked? Probably why the colours on Ramjet looked better than the Magnus ones -- Josh is very good with light sources.

I love Hardhead's new Earth mode. Someone should do a Movie Wreckage kitbash...
Looks like Ryall took it seriously that Yaya and others didn't like EJ's art... but frankly, his posts make me reconsider if a chief editor posting at forums is a good thing...
Oh and all this talk about (Mrs.) Musso just makes me remember Parker Lewis.

I haven't read the whole thread. I just read his reply, and he seemed to pretty much genuinely loose his cool (heck, revealing arts for an issue that's due in 4 months in advance pretty much shows this). It's not that I can't understand his reasons (I was pretty tired of people bashing EJ's art too, can't see much wrong with it), it's just I think it's a mistake on a professional level, because it will amount to more ***holes like the current one coming to the board running amuck in hopes of drawing Chris out to respond to their flaming personally. (there are people who think this 'attention' makes them cool, you know the type).
If I was Chris, I'd have let a mod deal with the flamers, and would have commented without the emotional outburst. But that's just me being unemotional...
Btw, noticed Simon made the first warning to a guy who ridiculed Scott on his blog? He's doing moderating pretty professionally so far.

Not seeing any emotional outburst there.
*shrug*
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
There aren't any big spoilers in the pages chosen, knock-on from the movie scheduling has affected other projects, and two issues have fill-in artists because of (relatively) unforeseen scheduling changes -- it seems sensible and a risk-free bit of promotion to put some art out there for people to comment on.revealing arts for an issue that's due in 4 months in advance pretty much shows this

As BF said, it had nothing to do with my comments on how I felt about E.J.'s work (which have never been overly negative, by the way).BB Shockwave wrote: Looks like Ryall took it seriously that Yaya and others didn't like EJ's art... but frankly, his posts make me reconsider if a chief editor posting at forums is a good thing...
Most people love E.J.'s stuff, so what you say doesn't really jive with reality. Ryall's not going to be dumb enough to place such decisions on the feelings of individual fans in the minority.
Personally though, looking at the above work, Nick's takes the prize, followed by E.J. and a far, far third, Musso's Pat Lee imitiation.

Well sorry then, I pretty much interpreted Ryall's post that he posted these to reassure EJ and protect his worker(s).
Agreed, Musso's art is too Pat-Lee-y to my liking as well. Nick is top-notch as always. EJ's robots still feel a bit... how to say it... Gundam-y to me. I mean, they are beautifully drawn and I like the way he exposes some wires/hydraulics here and there, like Wildman, and his TF faces are really emotional. I just feel when I look at his drawings that these are generic robots with vehicle parts on them, not TFs. I cannot really say why, but this was most prominent in Infiltration.

Roche has more of a handle on body language, which translates to very dynamic art, but that's because (in the tradition of most of the Marvel artists) he's presenting the characters as extremely human-like...
Su actually designs stuff mechanically, for the most part. We still have to assume that faces are probably a plastic polymer or type of metal with unlikely properties, but it's emphasised that these are robots. They wouldn't move exactly as we do.

An eagle-eyed viewer might be able to see the wires. A pedant, might be able to see the wires. But I think if you're looking at the wires you're ignoring the story. If you go to a puppet show you can see the wires. But it's about the puppets, it's not about the string. If you go to a Punch & Judy show and you're only watching the wires, you're a freak.

Or the story lacks substance, or its presentation sucks...Brendocon wrote: if you're looking at the wires you're ignoring the story
There isn't anything new in fiction, only stuff that's new to the people watching/reading. The meta's at least as interesting and compelling when you've seen the story before in other forms.
