It looks like it will allow for great freedom of movement. That's great, because I, for one, am sick of TF cartoons being "strike a pose, float in the air, fire weapon at other guy."

Plus, I mean, it's G1 Optimus Prime.

I'm much more concerned by the synopsis- 'everyday heroes fighting evil'... we mean everyday as in everyday objects, right?

Other than that the designs are at least recogniseable and the more 'super-deformed' they are, the more movement (as smooth said) and expression they're likely to show.

Remains to be seen whether this will be a quality product tho :(

That's awesome.

This is the best year for TFs since Beast Wars.

Obviously I missed that year where we forsook numerical year naming for Transformer's franchise naming ;)

Interesting. Are they going for that Clone Wars stylised look?

I actually expect this to be the best TF cartoon since BW/BM.

If its as action packed as clone wars it could be pretty amazing, on the other hand....

Agreed. I'll at least want to see the other characters and maybe an animation sample before I begin forming an opinion whether it's good, bad, or meh.

I think i'm most glad that it says each episode will tell a different story, excellent! No more hanging about for 10 eps on speed planet watching the same thing play out each ep, hot shot pushes himself - fails etc etc..............zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Well, the new series will be made by western-people. I suppose this IS something that I've been wanting for some time, since the japanese approach was getting tedious.

But the art-style... well the clone wars/Samurai Jack style has its perks, and sometimes I love it, but this style... I think.. is even MORE drastic. Not sure how the heck it will work. I wont judge it too harshly this early, but I AM a little bit concerned here.

Do we have ANY info on what the peeps behind the new series have done before? 'twould be interstin' to know.

Depends how it effects character development. It could be like Star Trek where changes in characters are conveniently dropped in the next episodes.

In a way I think Beastwars (and even G1) got it right by having a good mix of standalone episodes and mult-part epics.

I'm really excited for this. Do we know the character line ups yet?

The only characters I've heard about are Prime(voice by Kaye), Megatron(voice by Corey Burton), Starscream(voice by Tom Kenny(Spongebob)), movie-styled Bonecrusher(found in TFW2005 discussion thread), G1-styled Bumblebee(I think, saw his silhouette in teaser images), Prowl, and Ultra Magnus(if I've heard correctly).

Interesting. I hope Magnus isn't a white version of Prime again...

Also odd that Kaye is doing Prime instead of Chalk!

I said "worst year", at least to me, because of Mikey Bay's trainwreck and how the new cartoon seems to be shaping out into a poorly made movie tie-in for kiddies 3-7. The only figures worth buying for me this year have been the Classics, the final two Alts, and the Robot Heroes, and quite frankly I feel starved. I'm wondering if it's worth waiting another year for the slightest possibility of TFs NOT becoming what it looks like they are, or if I should just go rot in my room for the rest of my teen years. A rock and a hard place.

As for the cartoon, I just hate how awkward and horse-faced they made Prime. Who knows. It may end up to be a great show up there with Beast Wars, but so far it doesn't look good to me.

I really am not digging the style..
But I guess I'll have to see how everything else turns out before I'll completely judge it.

If it wasn't tied to cn then I'd hate it, but on the strenght of productions like Star Wars and Samurai Jack I'm more than willing to wait and see. I suppose it's so different that I feel I can't judge it until it gets aired. Just have to keep an open mind.

Looks like the Samurai Jack or Clone Wars style.

Which I love.

So thumbs up from me.

Awful. Powerpuff Girls' contrast meets Pat Lee's proportions.

.

It's an art style that comes from the need for quick and simple production, not the other way around.

Nonetheless, with Classics, Alternators, and Titanium, they've been doing a great job on toys lately, and there will be PLENTY more Transformers crap on the way.

I mean, yeah, this year may not be tops in terms of overall quality, but you can't deny the sheer QUANTITY of TF merch that there's going to be.

And if you've got money burning a hole in your pocket, go collect all the MPs and Takara Bookstyle Reissues, and don't stop until your wallet begs for mercy.

As for the cartoon.....I must admit, I too revulsed when I first saw it. But, upon thinking about it, the key word is Transformers ANIMATED. Which means, as Karly said, this will be about movement and fluidity, and NOT about somewhat "realistic" animation or matching up to a toy line.

And if TF history has told us anything, it's this: Once Transformers as a concept are freed from the trappings and responsibility of meshing with Transformers as a product, only good things happen.

I read the script. Seen the designs. "Movie about a boy and his car". Seems pretty obvious to me.

When you're old enough to drive, you'll understand.

Also. How in the hell can you hate this while admitting to collecting Robot Heroes? Have you NO sense of irony?

I love that this is the only board on the entire intarnets where people aren't hating on this to an obscene degree. 25,000 views in the Seibertron version of the topic and damn near everyone is spewing venom.
