Considering that Transformers went from alien robots transforming into realistic looking vehicles/weapons, to futuristic alt modes, to headless robots filled with people, to tiny robots piloting giant robots, to human shaped robots fighting monster shaped robots, back to futuristic robots, to animal based robots, to robotic animals, to organic robot animals, back to realistic alt modes, then on to futuristic alt modes, and so on and so on.
The only common thread: Robots that turn into stuff. Mostly featuring characters named Optimus Prime/Convoy and or Megatron.
This movie satisfies that and looks damned exciting. Everyone hated it at first, and most seem to have been won over by the awesome trailers. So if you continue hating on it, feel free, but don't assume that everyone agrees with you or act as though you are superior for continuing to hate on it.

Oh yeah. The only common thread: Robots.Brendocon wrote:Not even that if you count Action Masters. Though they were accompanied by things that transformed into other things.Professor Smooth wrote:The only common thread: Robots that turn into stuff.
So, to be completely fair, the only real thread = whatever Hasbro stick the name on.

Just seen this version on Youtube. Not great quality, but seems to have a couple of snippets towards the end that aren't in the two versions also posted in this thread. Most notably, Sam talking to Prime through his bedroom window and a closeup of Scorponok.

How many offical trailers are there? Anyone know?

Regarding Bay, I used to think the guy had no real artistic sense, but he may be proving me wrong with this preview.
In particular, the skating moves that Bonecrusher makes before ramming into that bus. I think it's quite creative to have him skating in the first place, and then do kind of that little stutter-step before ramming the bus. Nice touches, IMO. Most directors would have had him running up to the bus, then shouldering it.
Subtle little nuances that really make something different I really enjoy.
Another example is when Starscream lands and skids into those cars. Notice how instead of the jet flying straight and just Transforming, it kind of turns askew in air at an angle before the actual transformation. Again, I nice little touch that I think other directors might not have tried.
Gotta give him some credit after bashing the hell out of him. Granted, we haven't seen the story, but regarding action sequences, I feel the guy might actually be somewhat talented.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Big ******* robots and explosions. Michael Bill must have so much fun making this.
That's the reason I asked about the humans/transformers Bay sure can make action scenes - but the rest'll probably be quite average (four of the writers wrote The Island - the fifth wrote a screenplay for Catwoman).
I'm sure the movie'll be a lot of ******* action-fun though

Its odd, because when SS does a seektr backflip into plane mode, everyone I have show shouts "woow!" - then I thought about it, its because that what TF look like, its a image etched into peoples minds of our age.... how much will the movie pay hommage to the orginal stuff, I like to hope that bay has included more 'classic' moves that inspire my old memory.
