Ebay Bans Uncapped Megatrons

Post by Hot Shot » Wed Apr 25, 2007 8:35 am

Laser Optimus of TFW2005 has reported here that Ebay is removing and banning the listings of uncapped Megatrons. This means that uncapped MP-05s, G1 Megatron reissues, and possibly the originals are not allowed to be listed without a firmly-attached blaze-orange cap. Anyone seeking any form of G1 or G1 homage Megatron will have a much harder time finding what they need.

UPDATE: Apparently, Ebay is taking these actions because the shooter at the Virginia Tech Massacre bought a holster and ammo through their site. Whether or not this is the reason for the ban is not confirmed, but it most likely is.

Then post only a robot pic. If you are looking for a Megatron MP you know after all in what he transforms.

That quote is sooo true.

Btw, Ebay isn't really looking at all auctions. One just TF lot just ended a few days ago (and I lost it... :( ) with a G1 Megs in it, in pistol form.

What's to stop people just posting 'any old pic' of what they're selling, regardless of whether its a pic of their own personal item, or one they happened to find on the web that looks like theirs?

Surely all the uncapped Megatrons could be auctioned on eBay using pictures of capped ones? Who'd know? And just to be sure, use fancy wordplay to get around the pic. Like, "original G1 Megatron". Either potential buyers will think you're stupid ("Original? It's capped, you idiot!"), or they'll realise the pic's a fake and bid for their uncapped prize.

Or is this an issue with the postal system, whereby they can pick up the cap (or lack thereof) via x-ray?
