Santa Monica, CA – April 6, 2007 – Legendary voice actors Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, the original voices of OPTIMUS PRIME and MEGATRON from the first TRANSFORMERS animated series, are set to star as the lead characters in TRANSFORMERS: The Game, from Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), developed under license from HPG, the licensing division of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS).

Based on “TRANSFORMERS,” the upcoming live-action feature film due out on July 4th from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, in association with Hasbro, TRANSFORMERS: The Game lets players choose to protect the Earth as AUTOBOTS or destroy it as DECEPTICONS. Playing as OPTIMUS PRIME, BUMBLEBEE, MEGATRON, BARRICADE and others, gamers will experience the unstoppable power and massive scale of their favorite ROBOTS IN DISGUISE as they battle for Earth.



TRANSFORMERS: The Game is in development by Traveller’s Tales for Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment systems from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, Wii™, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and PC, and is rated “T” (Teen - Violence) by the ESRB. A PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system version is being developed by Savage Entertainment and is currently rated RP (Rating Pending) by the ESRB. Interesting. If Welker if doing Megs in the game, would that mean that the final word has not been said on who's doin' the voice in the movie? Last I heard it was definitive that Agent Smith had the role...

looks pretty good, and then suddernly I recalled where i had seen these TF designs before - rise of the robots!

Naw, those designs are better than the movie's, Impy. You can actually tell which body part is which.
Haha, haha...ha......oh, I just made myself sad.

As for the game, like most movie-spawned items, I'll pass on this. It'd be great if they made a seperate version of the game with G1-inspired designs and personalities other than ones that scream, "Starscream smash!", "I'll eat your soul!", or the more original "Cluck."
