Hi there. My name is Steve White. I'm going to be editing the new TF comic in the UK, due out from Titan in July to coincide with the movie release. We're working pretty far ahead and what I was hoping for was readers letters/artwork that we can run in the first couple of issues, which will be wrapped before the first one actually hits the streets. Any help gratefully received. Email me at steve.white@titanemail.com

What 'generation' is this comic? Is it based on the upcoming newlook movie characters, or the original G1 characters, or what?
.
I suggest "Misfire" for the letters-page robot.
Reasons: Decepticon + has recognisable face/mouth + you can call the page "Misfirings!"
As you were.

The comic will be mostly movie continuity, serialising the IDW prequel material. However, we will be originating our 10-page strips, written by Si Furman. We have various artists lined up; first issue should see the return of Geoff Senior whose keen to have a go for old time's sake. That's TBC but looks pretty solid.
I still like Soundwaves. Could have Brawl or Nothing?

Bligh me! the Senior himself? So he finally got a wee bit tired of advertising then? Tell us more about this 10-page backup strip, it's set in the movie-continuity? It's Transformers?STEVE WHITE wrote:We have various artists lined up; first issue should see the return of Geoff Senior whose keen to have a go for old time's sake. That's TBC but looks pretty solid.

A nifty idea is to have Liam Sharp do a cover or too, always wanted to see a G2-style decep by him, and these here Movie-formers I'm thinking would be very suitable to his style.
The letters-page could always be called the Allspark? Answering every single letter with god-like wisdom. ^^

It's just like old times again, with the UK comic getting extra material, written by Furman, no less! Ah, I'm getting that warm and fuzzy feeling of nostalgia.
A letter pages done by a TF sounds like a great idea, it worked well in Marvel UK and even Dreamwave tried it with success. I'd suggest Barricade for the role - he's a pretty original character and (having read the script) maybe the Decepticon with the most screentime in the movie. His character is not too fleshed out, but I guess you can't go wrong with a 'bad cop' style Con, yes?
Btw, a personal question... do you know whether IDW plans to release their TF comics in other countries as well? Here in Hungary the demand for TF comics would be pretty high, in fact there is a fan community who regulary translates the IDW comics for the fans. I myself am still working on the translation of the old G1 Marvel UK comics. I'm sure IDW would find a publisher for their TF and other comics in Hungary.

If you mean translated versions, like Semic was doing back in the day, then it's not in IDW's hands. When Ryall held that Q&A thread at the end of last year, I asked him about that and he said that there must be a publisher in, say, Hungary, interested to put their comics on their market and said publisher must talk directly to Hasbro about it. Ryall also mentioned that he forwarded some potential publishers from outside US to Hasbro, one was from Italy, IIRC.BB Shockwave wrote:Btw, a personal question... do you know whether IDW plans to release their TF comics in other countries as well?

So it's Hasbro's decision then... thanks for the info! I might try to contact Hasbro Hungary about this. I mean with the movie out soon, they'd profit greatly by printing out the prequel comic.

Wow, Geoff Senior!
But to more important matters, will there be free gifts on the front cover....?

Barricade's Tirades?
Not very letter-ish, but if anyone wants to pull a few sentences from a review: http://tfarchive.com/comics/idw/movieprequel1a.php
Review of #2 to follow.
Josh Burcham's been doing some neat movie-related stuff, and since he's colouring the thing I doubt would mind you using --

Question for Mr White if he's reading; is there any reciprocal agreement with IDW that might see the UK original material republished later for an international audience, as has happened with the official collector's club comics?
There's certainly interest out there --

Not sure what the deal is with IDW - other than that it's complicated. I'm also pretty certain that at one point or another, they will be collecting up the ol' Marvel UK stuff.
As for fears about a Panini-style title, it'll be over my putrescent, maggot-blown corpse before that happens. Even at the time I thought it was wrong - aimed way too young.
However, that said, there will be free gifts on every issue. Nature of the beast as far as the UK newsstand goes. That said, we do have some kinda cool stuff lined up, but that's classified right now, pending approvals.

Or taxi fare in this case.
Intriguing that Senior was not willing to do anything for IDW but seems to be involved here.
