Interviews with Eric Holmes and James Roberts

Post by Denyer » Tue Feb 20, 2007 4:08 pm

Two different interviews for you, both courtesy of Dave (spiderfrommars)...

The first is with Eric Holmes, game designer and writer on the Megatron origin miniseries coming our way in May:

Second is with James Roberts, British fandom mainstay, writer and Marvel UK afficionado:

Eric seems a thoroughly nice guy and any worries I had about this Megatron story being a Dreamwave throwback have been put to rest. Sounds as though we'll be getting real, solid characterisation.

James' Eugenesis will also be well worth you checking out once the site for it is up; it's one of the most enjoyable books I've read, not just one of the best TF fics. Particularly recommended for fans of the Marvel stuff.

Whatever your hopes for the movie, 2007 should be a great year for Transformers. :)

Oh, and while I'm here, the Movie Prequel #1 comic's apparently been pushed back -- hazarding a guess, it might be Diamond squeezing other titles over to get the final Civil War part out to stores post haste.

(edit: Printing issue. Nevermind that conspiracy theory...)

Nice interviews, cheers.

Holmes' interview gave me hope for Megatron mini-series, though that "wrestling ring" cover still worries me. :(

It's a pity Eugenesis reprint wasn't affordable, but I'm eagerly waiting for the pdf-version. I'll have to check if one local "print on demand" service is in business, would be nice to have it on paper. :)

He seems like a thoroughly clever and in Transformers interested chap. :)

And... OH MY GOD!! Don Perlin is going to do a Transformers-cover?? Brilliant! I've wanted to see something fresh from Perlin for some time now, and this sounds like a seed of happenings.

Could we be one step closer to a Budiansky/Perlin Spotlight? :)

Using Simon as a creative director is a great idea. I don't have a problem with new TF writers. I have a problem with bad editorial direction under the guidance off inexperienced writers. I wouldn't even mind seeing Mad Brick come back if Simon was his boss, instead of the other way around like it was at Dreamwave.

This Holmes guy sounds like a good choice. Understands the UK comics. That's a biggie.

I'm really reassured about the Megs origin now. IN fact, I haven't been this excited about a comic since Stormbringer! He sounds just like one of us, having grown up on Marvel UK... Great interviews, Spidey!
