True. Sadly however it's also likely to have no justification in the plot and make absolutely no sense.Professor Smooth wrote:Michael Bay will make that thing rumbling with Optimus Prime in the middle of a city street spectaculr!
"Wha? The previous scene was about Bumblebee tapdancing in a nightclub trying to understand humans- why have we cut to the middle of New York to find Prime and Megatron fighting?? Prime was having a custard pie fight with Jazz a few minutes ago and Megatron was on holiday in the Bahamas!"

I wish that was the plot of the movie - it'd be more preferable to what has been leaked so far. That way we could call this 'Michael Bay's TF parody" and wait a few more years until I win the lottery and hire Furman and George Lucas to do a REAL TF movie... (should really start buying those lottery tickets...)
OK. I understand they want REAL looks, and robot faces that can show emotions. Then they make Megs have a face like THIS?!? I can accept the alt mode (heck as many pointed out, Megs was even a big head once) I can even swallow the loss of his trademark cannon... but the face, just looks more like "Alien meets Predator meets Terminator and Jaws drops by to say hello".
When BW came, no wonder that most of the characters' faces were changed on the show (Primal, Dinobot, even Waspinator a bit) , some of the toy's faces were so monstrous you could hardly accept them as transformers (and are part of the reason why I don't collect BW). Judging by the laughably low prices of BW toys everywhere, and the fact that Hasbro quickly brought back the more 'robotic' designed faces, you could see most of the fandom preferred the 'old-style' faces, which even some robots like BW Megs had.
With today's technique, why can't they explain it - if they so badly want it to be real - that TFs have some hard but bendable polymer 'skin' on their face that is moved by machinery underneath? We saw how that machinery works when Jhiaxus ripped off half of Prime's face, or Razorclaw Megatron's.
This, this 'lotsa plates' and the teeth, is just silly. And more so, too scary. Megatron can be scary with his G1 face too... a good writer can make even Rumble scary. I guess they are missing in that department...
So far I hoped that while the story would be crap, at least the CGI action will be cool... now I guess we'll see lots of plates moving, and that's that.
Did you read what Murphy said? Guy makes me laugh, he's simply patethic as he still tries to assure as that 'we listen to fans'. After Seibertron (quite understandibly) made their front page a montage about what Megs SHOULD look like, Murphy made a post on his forum.

And umm, all the talk that 'these are in early phases, they will evolve"? Suuure. Like we haven't seen the actual statues they use for the movie... or Hasbro just starts working on toy models of movie characters that are in early phases of design? Suuure. They can't change this back to look even remotlely like Transformers. Heck, I'm not a G1 purist, I buy any TF I like, but these don't remotely look like any of the newest toys like Cybertron. Even the new fans will have a hard time accepting Megs...
Btw, this is funny... in a sad way. Ah whatever...:

I really think that the way they have designed the cons' is beacuse the're evil. and in there eyes evil means they have to look like alien monsters that will EAT YOUR BRAINS!!!
On a slightly differen't note did any one read the discription of what Jazz is going to look like? personally I think he will be the best looking of them all, but I won't hold my breath on that.
aaahh.... I can see it now:
artist- "sir i finished the design for Jazz I think it's really good"
movie exec "ok let's see here...... WHAT this looks just like the real Jazz burn this picture and start over and when I come back I want to see a BAYformer not a Transformer damn it!"
artist "yes sir and thank you for not using the fire hose on me again"
movie exec "oh that reminds me guards! get the hose!"

Yes, Megatron is c***. balls. ass. pants. stupid. bad.
80% of me wants to go cry in the corner that we're still a year away, and they're alreaady screwing up the movie.
but 20% of me still holds out slight hope. They may have dropped the ball, set it on fire, and kicked it into the dirt when it comes to Megatron, but......
You know who I think designed that Megatron? It's staring at us right in front of our faces, but no one wants to mention it. Who stands to benefit most from Megatron's deformtiy?

War Within Movie Megatron. Nice!
I hate this Megatron design as much as the next fan, but I can see where the concept probably comes from, and it's something that hasn't been explored in the past.
I'd say that what they've done is taken the basic concept of two warring sides that have been fighting for millions of years to a conclusion where they would have developed technologies that would differ, to the point where they themselves would develop differences in their behaviour and appearance: Decepticons into all-out war machines and Autobots into maybe more defensive or protective forms.
Or maybe I'm just reading far too much into it and the Decepticons are just "scary=bad"
