New adaptation to TF:TM in comics form

Post by adamtrion » Wed Jul 19, 2006 6:05 am

Decepticon-Matrix just published that IDW will produced a new 4 part comic adaptation to TF:The Movie, in which Don Figueroa will do the art and covers and on writer duty will be Bob Budiansky.

Oh.

I would like to give this a yay! but I can't, being that it doesn't really deserve one.
But the thought was there.

Prefer a 'legitimate' retelling of the movie with Don drawing it and published by IDW to a hashed-up 'newish' retelling of the movie with Don drawing it and published by DW...but can't say this was the project I was hoping those two esteemed creators to be working on.

Hmmm...Im greeting this news with mixed feelings - while this sounds like it could be a fun read, I'd question the need (and indeed the demand) for such an undertaking. I still think I'd much prefer a Blaster one-shot.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

agreed.

a fun idea but probably not the best use of this team by quite a way.

I will agree with the previous posters. Not horrible news, but a little bit dissappointing and confusing.

Good Points

-It might get Unicron/matrix out of their system
-Uncle Bob...bless 'im; His recollection of Transformers isn't the best (Including the stories that he wrote). He's out of the Transformers loop. Having something to work off makes his job easier and may just enhance his writing.
-IDW will make money out of it Might attract some new attention i.e. GEEWUNNERS. Well sales are sales.
-Allows IDW to do a slightly more fun/camp Transformers story
-Allows IDW to introduce "fan favourites" such as Galvatron, Scourge, Cyclonus, eh Rodimus { <_< >_> } who really shouldn't appear in the core titel {unless we're talking about City Commander Galvy;)} .
-It will be interesting to see what Don and furthermore what Bob comes up with

Bad

-I'm not particularly interested in another comic book adaptation of the film...
-I was hoping the Bob project would be a little more "Wow!"

The new movie or the old one?

He's already done an adaptation of the old one. :o

This is weird. But interesting. I wonder if they'll be allowed to screw with the story, a la "Unicron Saga." Perhaps they'll set it somewhen other than 2005.

I'd like to see Bob's take on this, I hope that they aren't limiting him too much.
